These were a few of the photos I took while I was in Japan (Kyoto) with a company called yumekoubou. I really enjoyed the experience, but I think they kind of posed my head position very awkwardly in a lot of the photos! They had me position my head down a lot and I lost my neck in the photos, and it made my face look fat lol! Part of that is my fault though, I could have probably had some more control over it.I definitely want to do this again, and I'll do better next time xO! The kimono was incredible, and very heavy! I loved it! and the makeup was so fascinating

Ooo I got to try yumekoubou too! XD I like the kimono you picked out, lovely color! It was hard for me to choose a kimono, I ended up picking one with lots of different colors, lol. Oh the neck thing I agree with for my photos, but I think yours looks great! You look beautiful!

Yes! Same experience when I was in japan, in the same shop too. All I can say, THAT WHITE MAKEUP/PASTE IS SOOOO COLD! And the wig/cap/hat/helmet kinda hurts after a while... other than that... it was awesome...
BTW, I was a really fat maiko... SIGH...

oh man I loved the makeup (it was really hot outside when I did it tho). It's a fun thing to do, even if I think they made me pose my head weird lol

Amazing pic! And they're probably did that to ur head, because the geishas used to be submissive to their "masters". Maybe that was the idea the photographer had in mind. Anyway...it looks great!

Absolutely amazing, my friend!! I am hoping to go to Kyoto in the next year or so. I've decided that for my masters, part of it will be in Geisha cultural history. I've been working on a independent study of it...quite fascinating, especially with the symbolism.
Which has also started me collecting vintage Kimono. You'd like the dance kimono I just got from the 20s. Gorgeous.

Well if we ever can plan a get-together, I'll bring them. I have a green winter Kimono, a dance kimono and a red underrobe all from the 20s. Even smell like mothballs, lol!
