Y version's probably going to be the most popular. I suspect that the past versions that fared better than their counterparts were red (Gen I), silver (Gen II), Ruby (Gen III), Diamond (Gen IV), and Black (Gen V). Why? Because the male players most likely take more favor towards the pokemon on those art covers( although in silver's case, it was probably the release of pokemon 2000, lol).

I actually found that I liked Blue, Sapphire, Platinum, and White more favorable than the others. But Platinum was the third game for that region, and this isn't for everyone.

My first was blue, I only got my hands on crystal when my mom bought it for me, I got ruby from a friend, and I bought diamond and black on my own.
