Oml how are you so good at this cosplay. I'm tempted to try a Tsunami or Queen Wasp cosplay, but like really how do you do the wings?

The wings were a bit of a crapshoot if I'm honest and there are FAR better ways of making a pair than mine, but I'll write it out anyway. Who knows, maybe it'll help you
So first I wanted the wings to be as realistic as possible and to be pretty wide. My original idea was to make them on hinges so they could be moved but due to a lack of experience that got scrapped fast.
First I had to made the individual 'finger bones'/phalanges which I did by scrunching up tin foil into the rough shape of each bone, then wrapping each one in waterproof tape. There are three per finger and 8 fingers so that was 24 foil bones in total. I used small pieces of wire punched through them and super glued to keep them in place.
These were connected to the hand segment, the part that would have been a dragons palm/metacarpals. This segment (including the distal fifth finger) was made in the same way, scrunched up foil and tape, wired/glued into place.
The arm bones were made from the reinforced cardboard rolls you get in tin foil boxes. I bought a lot of tin foil and had plenty of these rolls lying about and decided to put them to use. You'd need 4 of these, two for each wing. The joints connecting the two rolls together are made from 45 degree angle pipes I bought for like 90p in B&Q.
Everything was connected with some 2mm wire, and then the inside of the arm bones and joints were infilled with expanding foam.Everything was taped over again one last time to hold it all in place.
Both wings were connected with a 120 degree angle pipe. Tape again.
Then paper-mache everything. And I mean everything. 4+ times if you can, this is what really holds it all together and gives it its final shape. Once dry sand down any sharp points.
Spray paint a few times and then spray gloss the whole thing so the colour doesn't melt off in the rain. Leave to dry overnight.
Take your material (I recommend something scaly looking, I picked sequins) and wrap around the wings tight. Pin in place. Do this is segments, like a finger at a time. Sew by hand all the way along, as tight as the material will go. Once done, go again to make sure there's no loose segments or gaps. Continue until everything is covered in the material.
Sew or glue the membrane in place. Be sure to hem it first. Try to cover where you sewed on the covering material. I recommend a material that allows some light to pass through. I picked a fake silky sort of thing.
Create a harness and attach. Something like this. frekki.wordpress.com/2018/02/2…
Wear it a few times to check it's weighted correctly and make adjustments as needed.
Congratulations you've just spent 5 months making a pair of wings you'll only wear for a day!

I probably will but not for a while, it's not a casual get up XD
And no problem, good luck with making them if you ever try to.
