The lighting and shadows on this picture are so beautiful... It makes me so curious what thoughts are flowing through their mind... Also, more kudos on that amazing wig! <3

Thank you so so much ZoZoHarle, your comments really do make my day <3Β
And thanks so much! That wig was a huge pain in the patookus lol probably 48 squares all hand sewn because they're so knitty small. No more intricate hairstyles for any of my boys, that's for sure haha!

Thank you so much! I've worked very hard on him. And sure! I don't mind explaining. What is it you'd like to know?
I'll give you a short run down and anything else you'd like to know just ask. ^__^
They come mostly from asia, China, Japan, Korea but there are also companies/artists that come from Europe and America. The companies can range from one or two people to entire teams: [Luts, Migidoll, Iplehouse, Soom being big names]
They work on a ball joint and string system, allowing them a range of movement and mobility greater than action figures, barbies and most other dolls. Some people use wire to increase the holding capacity of poses.
They are completely customizable, you can choose the head, the body [mix and match] paint the face [or send it to artists all over the world who will paint it for you] the eyes, hair and clothes. There are a large variety of companies that sell these things separately or in sets. [Leekeworld, Tata, Luts again]
The dolls range from normal humans, to elves to centaurs and mermaids. You can find almost anything if you look. There are also pet dolls, dogs, cats and anthropomorphized animals [Pigs, Dogs, Cats, Dragons, Owls]
The price of them can range from a couple hundred to a couple thousand, depending on what exactly you want. The smaller dolls [MSD is what they're called] are 40-45cm and usually cost less, the larger dolls [SD] cost a little more. You usually get what you pay for and it helps to save up and buy something really fantastic instead of buying something cheaper.
You can usually find a community if you live in a larger city, a lot of the fun is getting together with other people who have dolls. There's a lot to find online too, a big site to keep an eye on is DenofAngels, though they usually require an invite from an active member to partake, so it helps to find the communities on DeviantArt and start talking to the people there. As long as you're respectful usually everyone is pretty friendly! We all have something in common after all ^^ liking dolls! Haha
Let me know if there's anything else you want to know! or if you just want to chat, I can be slow to reply sometimes, but I usually get back to everyone. ^__^ Thanks for your interest! I hope this little run down helped.

Kee Thanks! Made it by hand XD It's around 80 freak'n checkers in the back haha.
That was one of the fulfillment one of my friends wanted if I got a Ryu XD She was so tired of the Ryu craze she told me I had to mod him to make him unique [which was a challenge I was willing to accept and even found a Ryu that had been shoddily modded that I could fix up]

Quiitee a while, an entire afternoon XD and it's not even his real wig. D:
I luckily have a few friends who have done modding before so they walked me through it even though I was scared, plus it helps when you really have no choice XD The Ryu had huge white patches that needed to be sanded so.. forced modding, yaya lol.

is he a migi doll? I actually really really love the lighting in this one. the colors are crisp the way it falls on his face and provide a dramatic touch looks nice, clean, and dramatic!

He is! A migidoll Ryu, with some heavy mods on his cheeks, chin forehead and nose to thin him out and give him cheekbones. He's my skinny little ginger hipster. <3
Thank you so much! I have to thank the sun for that one, it cooperated just the littlest bit in lighting him. I'm so glad you like the photo, your comment is a great way to start the day <3
