It depends where you know Hawkgirl from. Comics Earth 2 Hawkgirl's not much like the one on the CW shows, but she reminds me a lot of Hawkgirl from the animated JL/JLU series if you ever watched that...very fierce and independent, but sometimes gets that really nice big sib/little sib connection with a few special heroes.
