I am very proud of this piece, overall it took me 20 hours to complete and all of it is painted besides the two terrestrial planets and the asteroids (the gas giant was painted). I created this for Inner-Space's "Silence" contest and I'm hoping it is good enough to win!

The name of the piece is Silentium Altum, which means Deep Silence in Latin.

Yeah a lot of work went into it - I had to go through a lot of adjustments and such. Overall, I kinda just stopped because I felt as if I had achieved a good enough "finish" point. I'm still not entirely satisfied with it though so I'm surprised that it has garnered so much attention

This is utterly terrific. Space is always enticing and is often depicted in digital art, so it is hard to shock the unappreciative eye of the viewer. And this fantastic work does it beyond any shade of doubt. This piece is both explosive and tranquillizing. On the one hand it delivers a heavy visual impact, which leaves thousands of ripples in your soul, making the image unforgettable. Yet on the other hand the serenity of the endless Universe shining here is undeniable. I can so easily imagine the eponymous silence which this scene unfolds in, the soundless movement of this star with the planets seemingly watching it. And the delicate gauze of the nebula encircling it gently. And the I literally cannot tear my eyes from this dazzling picture: I just keep staring and staring into the depths of it, constantly finding something new to marvel at. Thank you for this.
