ala Autumn Fairy

As soon as I had finished :thumb814265981:, I started on this one. It took rather long and stood almost a month 98% finished and waited for final touches. In the end, I decided, I have to stop about worrying and submit it. Who knows.. Maybe there will be winter and spring fairies in near future.

The title is inspired by Blackmore's Night song "The Clock Ticks On"

Leaves turn to red, the nights are getting colder,
Seasons will change, the clock ticks on...
Leaves fill the trees as the days are getting warmer,
Days turn to years, the clocks ticks on...

As soon as I saw the photo, I had this vision on my head with round "swing" covered with red maple leaves. In the end, it turned into a portal as I just loved the blue background so much that I did not wanted to turn it into any other color. When "Forest Spirit" was super simple artwork considering the amount of details, then this one was much more complex. The model and painting came easy and quickly but I spent so many hours on the background. When I was happy with the swing, I just could not commit to the background.. I played with several options and color schemes until I ended up with this one that I am happy.

I personally love autumn - for me this is one of the most beautiful seasons, especially in Japan. I just wish that during the autumn color season I could have all days off and just spend my time going from garden to garden and taking photos. This year, I "lost" autumn. I left Japan when it was still "too early" for leaves and when I came to Estonia, it was "too late" - it was already past autumn. Uh.. I was not happy about that. So maybe this is my "yearning tears" towards all those reds and warm orange/yellow tones I managed to miss this year... but as everything that is seasonal, it comes and goes.. so the portal is a window to winter.. that I have not seen properly this year either.
