Description Commission for :icon

carlstedtmattia s: of his pathfinder character Akriss.

Here is the description of her:

The only daughter of chelish noble Aelous Varrenica, and the granddaughter of the golden dragon Rystifax, Valeria Akrisinessis Zenovia Varennica, daughter of Aylmora, of the blood of the radiant Rystifax, was raised into privilege and expectations. She was the sole heir to the Princedom of Dawnheigts, with draconic power coursing through her veins.

But, when her parents castle was stormed by an unknown army, her world fell apart. Her grandmother told her she would help her to get the throne of Dawnheigts back, if she traveled Varsia and proved her worth.

Joining up with a band of ragtag adventurers, she has saved one town after the other. She has learned lessons of humility, of responsibility, of charity. For every lesson learned, one seal on her left arm breaks, unleashing more of her draconic power.

And she has come to realize (or, the less stupid members of her party are telling her) that there is a conspiracy afoot. Something evil is stirring. Something that, among other things, brought the death of her parents. And it is up to her, and her new family, to fight it.

In the end, Rystifax didn't send her out to prove herself. She sent her out to save Varsia.

Akriss is a rather simple person. She dominates social situations with raw presence rather than guile and wit. She performs magic by yelling at reality until things catch fire. She is brash, impulsive, emotional, fiery. A tad stupid. But in the end, she will lay down her life to protect those that cannot protect themselves.

I could freaking KISS you!  XD

Well, it is always hard to convey the IDEA of a character via just text and crude drawings. (Not that I didn't nitpick the the details.) Considering that, it is impressive that, well, this IS her. You really convey the feeling of her. In short, you nailed her. Not in every single detail, but in the whole. Which is, in essense, what I like about this picture. ...And why I added a small bonus to your payment.

Not that I am surpised. The reason this feels so right is the posure and expression, and I picked you for this comission because you would do a good job with this. (It did help that I could just point at Astrid and say: She is kind of like this. Only blonde. And part dragon. But meh)

Also, those clothes redesigns you made? I have informed the rest of the group that these are canon from now on. (At least from the point that our crafter get a chance to finish her robe.)

The color scheme is lovely. And I like the flame in her hand. And a lot of other stuff. And THAT SMIRK!! OMG!!!

I am glad you like it so much!^^
This is the kind of character that is just fun to draw, because it is clear that you have a good understanding of the character, and for me is easier to just explore and have fun with the design. I am really happy with the result on this one

The fact that you misspelled "straight" makes one wonder.^~^
Also, as a side, if you've ever played Dungeons and Dragons, which do you think is better, and why? ^~^
(Don't you just love essay questions? ^~^)

The only DnD i played is 4e, and I liked pathfinder better. 4e feels like it can't make up it's mind if it's a role-playing game or a boardgame.

Pathfinder has sort of a retro charm to it.

I played 3.5e and it made tons of sense, even though the cleric, druid, and wizard own even the noncore classes. And I agree that 4e (even though I only looked through the books and never actually played it) seemed like a lazy attempt to please the masses that wanted to killllll stuff...*ahem* Anyways, I don't know much about pathfinder (I've only been looking through their open source app on Googleplay) except that they made an overall increase in the power of the characters, as if they were attempting to balance the weaker classes (namely, all but the cleric, druid, and wizard) with the stronger ones (namely, the cleric, druid, and wizard). But I don't know how it works in game. Again, never played it.
