Thank you, its intresting traveling up there often you get to tune into the drama of individual animals lifes...you really start to feel a connection with them and become sad when something happens.

Indeed... however even the bitter ugly side of nature makes a vital contribution to the symphony of nature.

It doesn't surprise me that Star would be the one to get killed of the two, but it's still really sad... he was such a cute little guy.
Great shot of Hershey though.

Oh, that's so sad. Sometimes that natural cycle sucks. I was so thrilled with the pictures you took of both cubs, they were adorable. So sad. And I hope momma bear survives, would hate to see this one pass away as well.

Moms got to make it through at least this season and into next spring to give the cub much of a chance, I think she will make it as long as she doesnt get into any more fights she is a very smart old bear.

Oh, I do hope she manages it. She sounds like a tough one! How often do you get to be where you could possibly photograph her and her cub? I'd love to know how this mother/cub pair does!

I think there is a lot we can learn from it though,
They have no medications, or hospitals, or counselors, or welfare checks ect ect. They just keep on keeping on no matter the trial...how many of us give up on ourselfs and rely on something else to bail us out?
Also,
Life can be so miserably hard for them yet no matter how bad it gets except in the most extenuating circumstances they always desire to attempt to survive rather than die.
there is really a lot they can teach us if we think about it.
