Description Name: Suki
Age: 27
Place of Birth: Moss Creek, Laelria
Race: Zora
Occupation: Immigrant, settling down
Likes: Traveling, dancing, Zoran culture, competitive swimming, socializing, events.
Dislikes: Being bored, quiet locations, lack of variety, oppression, waking up late

Personality:
Suki (taken from the word "tsuki" meaning "moon") is the only daughter of a popular merchant hailing from the Zora settlement Moss Creek, in the land of Laelria, which lies far across the ocean from Termina. She is a cheerful, spirited young woman with a taste for the finer things in life. She can be quite pushy, being used to getting her own way, and can be seen as quite spoiled when she is truly disappointed. That aside, she's a very happy-go-lucky soul with the gift of generosity, and loves giving gifts almost as much as receiving them. She loves being around people and generally doesn't function well when left to her own devices. In this sense, she can be quite irritating to those who prefer to have their own space. Suki loves trying new things, and also revels in the thrill of competition, taking pleasure in racing the Great Bay beavers rather often, when her fellow Zoras aren't up for the challenge. Whether she is any good in said races is really up to the perciever - if Suki loses, she can very well whine and complain her way into first place.

Appearance:
Standing at 5'8", Suki has a very athletic build. In fact, if one does not hear her speak, she is often mistaken for a male. Being of the Koi tribe, she is very pale in colour, and scattered with black and orange patching. Her eyes have a deep, obsidian-blue hue, typical for her species. Most noteworthy is her little "moustache", properly known as barbels. While these are common in many male Zoras, they are constant in the Koi people, with the women also bearing them. Although barbels are smaller in the females, the males' can become a rather impressive length. It's said that the one with the longest barbels is gifted with the most wisdom.

Biography:
Suki's father was a popular spice and fabric merchant, who traveled across the ocean to the seas of Great Bay, in order to trade with the Great Bay Zoras. The journey can take up to 3 months depending on the weather and dangers, and as a result, Suki never did see her father all that much. She got a taste of Terminian life when she first journeyed with her father, which was only allowed in her late teens. Considering the peaceful, somewhat boring atmosphere of Moss Creek, Suki craved to see the outside world. That single trip away from home was enough to sway her to move there completely. After being away for 7 months, she returned to her mother only to tell her that she would be moving away. This would be a trip she would make alone, however, as her father reached retirement and could no longer handle the stress of his business. On a tearful but exciting day, she packed only the bare essentials and left, making the journey to Great Bay in only 6 weeks. Since then, she has started working for the shop keeper in Zora Hall as a simple part-time assistant, hoping to train up as a professional saleswoman and to later do business with the people of Termina. When a new merchant from Moss Creek arrives, she usually recognises them, and after a good catch-up, gives them trinkets and letters to take back to her parents.

Physical differences/notes:
Besides the misleading barbels and unusual markings, Suki is as typical Zora as you can get. However, she does have a ridge-fin on her head-tail, which is not so common in the Great Bay Zoras. Given her origins, Suki sports a rather unique accent in her speech, with every sentence reaching a higher pitch towards the end. Another habit of speech she has is her over-use of the words "yeah" and "right", common slang for young people in her hometown.

Thank you! This was actually left as an "almost finished WIP" for a few months but I had too much work for others to do!

Glad you like her design! Hahahaha you know, I will need to draw a full body picture someday... I hope I can keep the pattern just as good! xD

Haha! I'd love to see that Cuccoo finished! Have you ever thought about making a Cojiro??

And yes, she will, I assure you of that!

Maz-Zeldette In reply to I-Redeemer-I [2014-10-13 20:16:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I totally want to make a Cojiro ! I actually wanted to finish that pattern to make a regular one and Cojiro so I could take a pic of them together. Oh and I also have a special thing I'm working on and hope to finish soon (like maybe a month?), and I'm sure you're going to like it haha ! Well I'm pretty excited for this project and been wanting to do it for a while.

Oh cool ! I SO can't wait for the next chapter (hope I'm not putting any pressure on you lol). I know you've been having a lot of work It's cool to see you've been finishing a lot of commissions these days !

Oooooooh I'm so hyped to see what you've been working on!

Haha, the next chapter is coming VERY soon! And you know what? I've even got more WIPs going on! I finished my commissions, closed them, and now I'm free to catch up on all my stuff!

I've been busy since August with commissions yes it feels like people are getting to know me and appreciate my work so I'm very thankful for that !

The project is Majora's Mask related but I won't say more haha. I just hope it'll be good.

Oh goody !! That's so cool !! Can't wait to read it And can't wait to get more art from you haha, cool to have you back

So, btw, what are you doing this year ? Are you going to uni or school again or will you only be working ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

I-Redeemer-I In reply to Maz-Zeldette [2014-10-14 15:13:52 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I thought you were really busy! It's great you're building fame! Keep at it!!

MAJORA'S MASK YOU SAY? Now I'm super excited!

Hehe yeah! I'm working on Chapter 4 today! It's just a little tricky, trying to pick up where I left off... So glad I closed commissions. I've had them open for a whole year and I really lost my motivation. :S

This year I'm just working and stuff. Trying to find an apartment too! But yeah, no school on the agenda for me at the moment. What about you?

Haha okay I'm telling you but shhh it's a secret ;D I'm trying to do plush toy versions of Deku Link, Goron Link and Zora Link. It's going to be some sort of set of the 3 Links. I finished the base of the body and I'm going to start with Deku Link (then Goron Link and Zora Link for last, he scares me a little lol, I don't know how I'm going to do him).

Oh yeah ! I'm happy to know that I'll be seeing some art of your universe anytime soon

I'm "only" at Uni this year I have a lot of work with Uni already, that + plush commissions is totally keeping me busy, I don't have much time for myself. Feels weird being so busy ! I'm not used to it. I guess it's a good thing, but it can be overwhelming.

I hope you find a flat any time soon

I-Redeemer-I In reply to Maz-Zeldette [2014-10-22 14:17:27 +0000 UTC]

WhaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAA? Omg really?!!! Eeeeee! This will be SO CUTE! Aw man Deku Link, what a little baby. :') Zora Link might not be as hard as you think? You made some really awesome Zora tadpoles so imagine that with headfins and you're done! Or do you mean the body? xD

Ahaha yes! I'm working on some things, actually I'll also give you a spoiler: I'm working on a 25 expressions meme for Freya, not just to share her face with the world (lololol) but also to work on my consistency as an artist. And let me tell you - it's damn hard!

Yeah, you've certainly got a lot of work on your plate, I can see that! I hope commissions don't weigh you down! It's important to make some time for yourself, so maybe for some days just don't work on anything and relax. Hot baths, a little chocolate, watch some TV... you know, self-care!

Maz-Zeldette In reply to I-Redeemer-I [2014-10-23 09:06:29 +0000 UTC]

I received the fabric so now I only have to design the eyes to make it an embroidery file and then find time to make it (omg can't wait!!). I really hope it's going to look cool, maybe it's going to come out all crappy and ugly haha we never know.

For Zora Link I'm a little troubled with the back of the head that's really long and I don't know how I'm going to design the pattern for it to look goof but I'll find the way. I also don't know how to do his nose. Like, will it look good ? Or should I just not do it ? And then his face is going to look flat... so many questions haha

Cool for the 25 expressions meme ! It's going to make you progress (: Btw I noticed you did make progress in your last submissions. You can tell that you've been working hard on your drawings.

Yeah, can't wait for Saturday to chill and relax a bit (: maybe work on Deku Link then and cuccos !

I-Redeemer-I In reply to Maz-Zeldette [2014-10-23 13:20:55 +0000 UTC]

I'm sure it'll turn out fine.

Hmmm good point about Zora Link's nose and headfin. I had a quick look on google, and I saw this:
images4-d.ravelrycache.com/upl…

Although that's crochet, I imagine the plush looking similar? BUT, with your skill, it would look so much better, I know that for a fact! Do you actually know how to put a little nose on his face? Extending the head might not be so hard but the nose is so small, I also wonder how you should do that.

By the way, when I google image "zora plush" you're on the top of the list!

Haha yeah! Well I've finished 4 expressions and sketched out 10, it's just linearting that's a pain! And omg really? Thank you so much! I've been trying to get better and better, and actually using LESS references so that I don't become dependent on them.

Maz-Zeldette In reply to I-Redeemer-I [2014-10-26 09:01:32 +0000 UTC]

I'm going to give you a teaser haha, here is the base of the 3 versions :

I saw this one too : oi50.tinypic.com/2w4fp5k.jpg but it really looks weird with a flat face.

I guess I'll try to put a nose on. I can easily do that with a ladder stitch. It's an invisible stitch that allows you to see on details on the base of your plush (I would be lost without it lol), like the ears/horns/nose on my Skiddo plush.

And for extending the head, yeah it's possible too but it's going to be a bit tricky to find a good balance because I can't make it as long as in real and too small won't look good either (damn you Zora Link!)

And yeah, I can really feel the improvement like every drawing you make makes you learn stuff. And oh I'm going to have to lineart too but I'm so lazy about it, I never take the time -_-. Have you finished more expressions now ? Are you going to color them ?

I-Redeemer-I In reply to Maz-Zeldette [2014-10-27 13:24:29 +0000 UTC]

Looking good so far! And I saw the new update today on your facebook page - even better!!

Yeah that plush you linked is cute but without a nose it is flat looking. It's cute as a chibi plush though. A ladder stitch sounds good, I'm certain you'll make it work! With the headfin too, at least Link's headfin doesn't have a forked end! xD

Ah thank you so much! I'm so glad you see improvement! I haven't actually finished any more expressions because I've been working on chapter 5, but I will also colour them! I'll try and work on some more today.

Maz-Zeldette In reply to I-Redeemer-I [2014-10-30 12:40:14 +0000 UTC]

Thank you (: Can't wait to finish it ! I have to finish Vulpix first since it's a commission from a month ago

Yeah, thanks Nintendo for not making the forked end x) The color of it fading into green is going to be enough complicated to make.

So, have you been having more time on your hands lately ?

I-Redeemer-I In reply to Maz-Zeldette [2014-10-30 23:21:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah but you're almost done, and it's looking great!

Can you not dye the fabric when it fades to green??

Well I have some more free time but I'm also working and after that I always have to rest because it's all physical work, heavy lifting and stuff. Completely floors me. xD But yeah, I'm trying to get back into drawing and I've actually gotten pretty far through chapter 5 of my story. :333

Some plush artists use an airbrushing technique to create gradient effects. But I don't have an airbrush and I don't know how to use them so :/

Are you doing part time or full time ? I've had a hard week at uni x( It's only been 9am/5pm every day but it's too much for me. Thank god it's friday ! I'm pooped too. So I get that you must be tired too at your job, being physical and all... Sucks to have to work.

Oh yeah ! Chapter 5 Can't wait to read it !

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

I-Redeemer-I In reply to Maz-Zeldette [2014-10-31 18:10:23 +0000 UTC]

Oh airbrushing, right... Hmm, how about using a normal paint brush with watered down ink? You'd have the make the gradient manually though. :/

I'm only working part time but I'm also looking for jobs in hospitals and such so that I can actually use my damn degree. I've recovered from work yesterday but I don't even know when I'm working next week so it might be much earlier than I thought.

Haha yeah! Chapter 5 is on its way!

I bought acrylic ink a few months ago and little sponges to try to do the markings on the baby zoras. Haven't had the time to try it out yet. I really don't know how it's going to work out

And if you find a job in a Hospital, are you going to quit your job at the Restaurant ?

I-Redeemer-I In reply to Maz-Zeldette [2014-11-02 15:39:50 +0000 UTC]

Acrylic ink sounds good, I'm sure you'll make it work!!

And heck yeah, I'll be trying to go full-time in the hospital. Restaurant work is better than nothing, I know, but to be honest it's just so damn hard. I hurt my back almost every day and the skin on the hands is a mess from all the chemicals I use to clean and one of my fingernails started peeling. Disaster. D:

Maz-Zeldette In reply to I-Redeemer-I [2014-11-02 16:00:07 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah ! You're quite brave to be working in a Restaurant. I definitely couldn't, well, not as a waitress. I'd be crying of stress in front of clients lol (I don't do good under stress lol). One summer I worked in a Restaurant and it was okay because I was in the kitchen doing the washing up, so no contact with the clients, then it was okay. My step sister was working at the same time as a waitress and I admired her, like how she could run around with the dishes and always hurrying to get people bread/water/whatever.

I-Redeemer-I In reply to Maz-Zeldette [2014-11-02 20:18:06 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's really stressful, doesn't help that my manager can be really angry sometimes... She's super nice but when she's angry, she's a force of nature! It's also hard because I can't speak English there, so I get lost with German sometimes...

I do washing up too, I prefer that sometimes hahaha.
