Enchantress: "It may not seem as cruel where you're from, Keyblade Wielder, but in his eyes, he turned away a woman in the cold night simply because she was hideous."

Sora: "But, why did you curse the servants?"
Enchantress: "They raised the Prince, spoiled him. I've dedicated my life and powers to punishing guilty parties."

Sora: "Sounds harsh."
Enchantress: "Justice is hardly merciful, Keyblade Wielder. You may have a good Heart, but you don't understand the retribution I'm devoted to."

Sora: "Well, I understand magic."
Enchantress: "I can tell. You've been hypnotizing me this whole time."
Sora: "Oh...You noticed that?"
Enchantress: "Yes. My power is unmatched in this world, but I am human. I can feel my mind relaxing...and focusing on your commands..."
Sora: "Really? Awesome!"
Enchantress: "My power is at your command, Keyblade Master."

People make (often raunchy) hypno-art of all the Disney Princesses, but I don't think I've seen much of the Enchantress from Beauty and the Beast, whose design here is a mix of her stained-glass depiction in the original film, and her in-the-flesh look from the Christmas special. Probably the most common question about Beauty and the Beast aside from "Is it about Stockholm Syndrome"(And it isn't. It's more about Lima Syndrome.) is "Why did the Enchantress punish the servants for the Prince being a prick?" I looked into it, and we have a few things to go over here. First things first, the original fairytale didn't have an Enchantress playing judge-and-jury, it was an evil fairy trying to seduce the Prince, and when he said no, she epitomized the term "Sore loser" by cursing him. Another thing to bring up is that the film takes place in a time when you can't just send a hobo to a homeless shelter when there's a storm, turning away an elder in the cold night can be pretty cruel in the time this tale takes place. The justification she uses in the skit above about the servants is brought up in the Broadway musical of the Disney film.

On the other hand, people say if you do the numbers(The 21st birthday time limit and Lumiere saying they've been waiting 10 years) means she cursed an 11 year old for turning away a stranger. Cursing the castle staff is especially questionable considering she also cursed the kids like Chip or animals like Sultan. Whether she took it too far or not is up to debate, she seems to be dedicated to her ways to a fault. However, as sketchy as she is, she's not really even the worst depiction I've seen. Phelous went over a Golden Films take on the tale where the Beast turned away a bunch of starving peasents who then died of starvation...and the Fairy made it where three of those peasents have to serve the Beast until he gets a woman. Yeah...
