Biography:
TLDR; Onyx grew up in a crappy household. Her family treated her badly, because she reminded them too much of their dead father. After she turned 11, Onyx made some really great friends who introduced her to a whole other life, filled with glitter and bonds and most of all: perfume. In high school, she moved into Enjelrose Academy and continued onto college.
"It's no big deal really. I'm okay. I understand"
Onyx wears her heart on her sleeve where everyone is able to examine, prod, and puncture if they please. Her armor is her personality: bright, happy, and loud. It covers up her less than appetizing quirks: destructive and obsessive. Being the runt of the family, Onyx had few people she could rely on. The seemingly endless days left her all to her lonesome, leaving her possessive of what little she had. Her mother, actually her entire family, is everything Onyx strives not to be. They're too much, too little, all the time. Strict schedules, 'Do it like this. It's more efficient', military fashion. No elbows on the table, stop shaking your leg, don't wear your hair like that. She had to break what didn't belong.
She understood why her family was like this, however. Her father passed away some time after she was born, but everyone couldn't pass up the chance to tell Onyx how much they could see her father in the little witch. Jade, Iris, Pyra, and Mercury were more like their mother. They followed rules and obeyed without doubt. Onyx was the black sheep; no one to fall back on when she needed a hand to hold. She endured it all (name calling, hair pulling, skin pinching), because she didn't know any better and because she still loved them all.
Once in blue moon, her mother would have a bad day and talk about Onyx's father. "He's just like you. His eyes, his nose, his smile. He even sounds like you. God, I wish he was here. I miss him so much."
"Screw you!"
After she turned 11, Onyx broke a little. Growing up made Onyx realize that 'this' wasn't normal. She tried wearing long sleeves to cover up her heart, but it didn't change anything. Her emotions were clear as day.
So, in an act of rebellion, she started hanging out with the 'unacceptable' kids. They showed Onyx a glimpse of their lives and didn't ask for anything in return, only her friendship. Sleepovers, study groups, birthday parties, dressing up, etc. Wisteria introduced her to the world of manicures and pedicures-- to the woes of everyone else. "Let me do your nails again? I won't mess up this time, promise!" Though, one could say Onyx is a bit too protective of her friends. Most of all, they introduced her to perfume. She found solace in the soothing fragrances, happiness in sweet aromas. Rarely did she find herself in full control of something; perfume became one of the few things in Onyx's life that she knew without a doubt was at her beck and call.
During this time is when the budding witch developed her morbidly, sarcastic humor, finding solace in the ghoulish banter. If she had to deal with the bullying, then might as well make the most of it.
"Need a hand?"
High school was undoubtedly the best time for Onyx. Growing up and maturing lent her more freedom, allowing Onyx to explore. Her family and Onyx made a trade: "Do well in school and we will let you stay in Enjelrose Academy dorms." Though her friends were none too happy about Onyx's sudden intense interest in homework, they understood and supported her as much as they could.
Months following the big move into the Academy, Onyx finally broke free from her shell. Previously, she was a timid little thing, following orders to the best of her ability, never straying from the path. Before long, she found herself encircled by people who befriended her, introducing Onyx to what the world had to offer.
These days, the witch is hardly recognizable from her past self. As her friends would describe her: 'A morbidly dry sense of humor, obnoxiously kind, and someone who always has your back till the end of the world.'
Miscellaneous:
- Grades | B+
- Adores doing manicures and pedicures, especially acrylic nails. (Warning: will attack your cuticles)
- Absolutely loves rabbits. Gushes over Lops and Angoras, though Minis are a close third.
- Extremely ticklish. (Blood will be spilled)
- Takes promises very seriously and hates gossip.
- Still unconditionally loves her family and will do anything for them, but prefers to keep her distance.
- She really puts the grim in Grimoire.
RP Methods:
- I prefer using Notes over everything else! It's easy to organize. Otherwise, I'm available via Skype (and learning to use Discord).
- Would really love to plan out an RP before hand so it doesn't just gradually go into oblivion. Headcanons are //clenchesfist really nice
- Going to be straight with you guys, I'm not that good at groups chats with 5+ people. It gets really hard to keep track of everything that goes on and since I take an obscene amount of time to reply, breathesdeeply ur not gona like it
