OKAY THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG ONE SO PREPARE YOURSELF

pethens was once two people (and still is, in a way) but then a bunch of stuff happened that im about to explain

before that tho they were pete and athens

pete (the black and white one) lived in a mansion and was a part-time mime (mostly because he thought it "seemed appropiate for his colors")

athens (the white and red one) lived in a large houseboat and was a opimist painter

they were both villians (mostly because of their reputation for thievery), but were also enemies toward eachother

they also both had a bunch of minions and servants

they had a sort of competition against eachother where they would try to one-up the other's heists, but they didn't know what or when the other's heists were so they would often end up stealing the same item around the same item

it started off with simple things like candy stores and convinience stores but then it wasn't kept under check very well so it soon escalated to banks and casinos

one day the rate of escalation jumped and they tried to get the Gem of the Cosmos (AKA the gem with the ability to give its owner control of the universe) and actually managed to get scarily close before getting caught

they had a trial and the Special Court (yes, that's the real name, yes, they've been made fun of a lot for it) decided to give them one of the worst punishments they had...brain fusion (also put in a jail cell)

it's a complicated process but honestly all you need to know about it is their consciences were fused into one

originally the fused head was cleanly stuck together like 2 puzzle pieces

however, the pressure of two souls who hated each other so much in one body literally snapped the head open, and the resulting explosion blasted open the cell wall they were kept in and they stumbled away in the resulting confusion

and so, PETHENS

the consiences are still combined, but the head is not

it took a long, long time but they have managed to round up both their minions + servants

they can't clean up the pink junk because, well, its a bit complicated but it's technically their brains. HOWEVER, the minions are currently thinking up a way to put it together more neatly without hurting either of them so there's that

there's fights that you wouldn't even BELIEVE, though

pethens needs assistance with a lot of things because often they both try to do 2 different things at the same time which ends up with a lot of flailing

they still have 2 voices tho and let me tell you it's REALLY weird watching someone argue with themselves (sort of........)

they actually hate being called pethens but to absolutely nobody's surprise they haven't come up with a better name yet so that's what they're called for now

they haven't done any villiany since the fusion, but unfortunately for every one else they're starting to adjust to sharing a body...

(also, sorry for the gaps between art, im having some trouble getting back into the groove. hopefully this will make up for it a bit!!)
