Description This is a completion of one of my old sketch [link]

The hermit is Kaku Seiga from Touhou series.
The Jiang Shi with purple hair is Miyako Yoshika. The rest of the three are just some randomly drawn Jiang Shi since I felt that only one Jiang Shi would be too lonely for the scene.

For your information: 殭屍, Jiang Shi, the east zombie(wiki link:[link] :
Jiang Shi, like west zombie, is a living dead that arise from the grave. However, unlike zombie which could still walk like human, Jiang Shi joints are stiffen, so it moves around by hopping with arms outstretched. It come out at night and kills living creatures to eat their flesh, drink their blood and absorb their life force.

Originally, The word "Jiang Shi" was only to describe a stiffen corpse. As times pass by, more and more supernatural phenomenon somehow appeared. In a Fiction of Chin Dynasty, it describe Jiang Shi as 「白毛遍體,目赤如丹砂,指如曲勾,齒露唇外如利刃。」(Their body covered by white fur. Their eyes are as red as Cinnabar. Their fingers are like hooks. Their teeth were bared out of their mouth and they're as sharp as sword.... ). In 20 centuries, somehow the traits of western vampire were integrated into Jiang Shi as well. It sucks blood like how vampire do and the bite would cause the victim become a Jiang shi as well. (which might be the reason why the famous Hong kong's Jiang Shi movie series were translated as Chinese Vampire)

Notably, Jiang Shi could be controlled by putting a tailsman on their forehead.

I have a question! What is that floating scarf-shaped piece of cloth around Kaku Seiga? I've always wondered what they are. I've heard them called "celestial robes" but it doesn't look anything like a robe. A robe is similar to a cloak, but with sleeves. Any information would be helpful

Cute Jiang Shi, by the way

Well, the scarf doesn't seems to have a name in mythology. However, in real history, it is called "帔帛(Pei Bo)". Pei Bo first originated in Jìn Dynasty(265 - 420 AD). It became an enormous vogue in Tang Dynasty(618 - 907). You can find many women wear Pei Bo in many Tang Dynasty's painting and sculpture. Such as [[link] ], [[link] ], [[link] ].

In mythology, Pei Bo is only meant to beautify the celestials. In many Chinese Mythology painting, artists often draw Pei Bo on the heavenly figures for both males and females. Such as Chang'e, the goddess of the moon([link] , Luo Shen([link] ), The seven fairy maidens of Heaven([link] ) Ne Zha (male celestial, [link] ) or even Tai Shang Lao Jun, The Grand Supreme Elderly Lord([link] ) .

That was extremely helpful, thank you, and thank you for all the links to such beautiful art! You're the best!

My favourites are Chang'e by Shi Yu and The Seven Fairy Maidens by Shi Dawei.

No problem.
I am very willing to explain anything that related to Chinese culture. I'm more than happy that more foreigner could know a little better about it's beauty and it's depth.

So that's where the 'Hopping Zombies' that I see in games come from. I remember them from Ragnarok Online.

This is one more thing I enjoy. I still need to finish Ten Desires! It's easier than other Touhou games, but still SO hard for me!
