It was originally darker, but I lightened it a bit and gave it a subtle hue, in order to differentiate it from his inner form, which is pitch black. I actually tried drawing that too, but I just couldn't come up with a design I was satisfied with. I have it roughly pictured in my head, but I can't get it to look good on paper. I still need a lot of practice drawing non-human figures.
