Soon after the Cell games.Gohan's an angel, or he's unrealistic. There's no way a kid like that would be ok after his dad just died...again.

Nice art sad moment. He did take it hard but the fact that his father was watching over him made him feel better. This seems so much like Gohan though. I don't know why but this picture makes me like his character even more...

yeah, in all my fanfics he takes it hard, some harder than others, but he's to emotional to have taken it so light. he's such an amazing character and they didn't do enough with him

I love this. I personally think Gohan is very good about putting up the brave face. I can totally see him going to a quiet spot on Mount Paouz by himself and breaking down like this.
Also, if you're discounting GT, Goku's only died twice. The first time Gohan was unconscious and was visibly distressed when Piccolo told him (which was probably impacted by the fact he was 4 and most likely didn't even understand what "death" meant at that point; he runs about for a few minutes still calling for his father) and by this point, he knows the limits of the dragonball sand fully comprehends what it means to die. I always figured Gohan saw Goku as a child would a parent who goes off to war. And by this point in his life, Goku's only been gone for 2-3 yrs of Gohan's life. He's been there for 7 out of his 9/10 years (depending on how you view the ROSAT affecting him) and in fact Gohan's spent the last 4 years almost exclusively with his father and Piccolo. For him to just be able to shrug this off would be unrealistic.
So much emotion in this piece. I really feel for poor Gohan. How much that must hurt..,

This is so beautifully sad... T.T Gohan is my favorite character and it's kinda frustrating to me how the series never showed much of him after the Cell Games, as far as how he dealt with things. I mean, obviously DBZ isn't as much a drama series as it is action and comedy but it would have still been nice to see some more clarity in regards to Gohan's emotions... 
Oh well. At least we'll always have fan-fiction to write and read lol XD Again, great piece

I remember reading somewhere when I was quite younger, that the writer found Gohan more interesting than Goku, so wrote him as the main focus in many episodes. But since the story's hero is Goku, they brought it back to him after the Cell Games. I feel your pain.

Well damn lol That writer had good sense! xD Gohan did have more potential as a character than Goku (in my opinion). It would have been a good opportunity to get some new story in the series instead of just the same old thing. I like Goku and all; he was one of my first favorite characters when I started watching DBZ but it gets pretty old how they kept going back to him... v_v

Well Gohan did come back in the Buu Saga as the strongest fighter. He would have beat Buu if he hadn't been eaten >_>
The way I look at it, Gohan being a secondary character makes his awesome scenes all the more amazing...cause we don't get to see him that way often, so when it happens it's special :]

I guess it was too much to ask that Gohan's awesomeness saves everyone twice in a row...and the whole fusion thing with Vegeta and Goku was cool and kinda hot ^-^;

I have noticed that in DBZ they tend to drop some of the emotional aspects of certain things (excluding Vegeta's deaths, those were excellent scenes). O=
I've always wondered what went on in Gohan's head after his father's deaths, and even Goten, who didn't know his father for many of the first years of his life and watched his best friend grow up with one, no matter how much of a hardass he was.
The feet look a little small, but this is a very emotional piece and it's beautiful at the same time. I appreciate the bright lighting and the way it affects his clothing. :3 Very nice work!

I've been drawing since I can remember, and I recall being frustrated that I couldn't relay what I imagined onto paper. Out of all the things I gave up on or never finished, my art wasn't one of them. Then at some point I managed to get what I wanted on paper, and even though it wasn't exactly as I imagine it in my head, it was good all the same, sometimes even better. I did some tracing, but mostly copying and mimicking of my favorite pictures or artist styles, and I practiced what I did best (animals and creatures). Then I challenged myself to people. All this blah blah to say that it takes time and hard work.

Ah I was the same with stories. I couldn't get the words out of my head onto paper until about 5 years ago when one of my school teachers helped me. Well you've surely made some amazing pieces of art with your skills. Keep up the amazing work, I look forward to seeing more of it XD

That, and I find Goku very selfish at times. He's a father, his son needs him. On the other hand the bigger picture demands the needs of the many outweighing his son's wellbeing. Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it ^^

yeah and in a way he is still thinking of his family becuase if he didn't sacrafice himsself then his family would die anyways
