I love your scratchboard! I'm definately not that good at scratchboard yet.. Wish I was, but I need to find a place 'round here that actually sells it.

Anyway, good job!

These are beautiful. I find it extra-amazing you did them on a medium that unleashed the inability to erase... :: huggles her eraser ::
immediately!

Thank you ... I've worked for years engraving portraits and scenes onto black granite monuments so I've become accustomed to not being able to erase ... only cover up or modify things a bit if they went awry.

Do you sketch onto the board before you start scratching? I've been wary about attempting a realistic scratchboard piece so most of mine are ....well, you can see them in my gallery if you want.

Hey Evan,

No I don't sketch onto the board ... You can get these rolls and sheets of transfer paper. They come in different colours. White of course being the best for Scratchboard. You place the sheet transfer side down on the scratchboard then your drawing on top ... retrace all the main lines onto it and it'll be like a template of sorts for you to go by.

You need to be a bit carefull as it does rub off ... but it's the best way to go at it.

Oh, well, that's the expedient way of doing it, I guess. ; ) Thanks.

Hmmmm ......

and this was an old test one to see what I could do with the medium ... My Zebra one Titled Pinstripes and my Elephant one Titled Ties That Bind are way more recent ... and I daresay better done.

But thanks I'm glad you liked this one.
