The way you've chosen the colours here... I don't know, it might just be me, but it's quite painful on the eyes. I realize that I have sensitive eyes, and I don't know if it was your intent here, but the whites and the yellows (particularly on the left guy) are a little uncomfortably bright.
Beyond that, I do like the combinations of green and yellow against reds and purples. A little more reds on the right guy might make the excessive green of his beard stand out a little more as well.

I was trying to go for a more psychedelic art style which is very intense and straining on the eyes. I think if I used an off white it would have worked better.

Mm, well, I guess it depends on how you look at it. On one hand, like I said, it might just be me; I've got really sensitive eyes so bright colours and starkly contrasting colours tend to get to me more than other people. Although, on the other hand, because of this I tend to keep the brightness and the contrast for my computer screen on the lowest possible settings but despite that I still found the piece to be a wee bit painfully bright.
It might be a good idea to get some more feedback from people with different intensity tolerances. Maybe try getting some critiques from people who use a lot of super vibrant colours in their works already.
That way you're not only getting a critique some someone with sensitive eyes XD
