Always thought he was a beautiful lion...
I love his black manes with his dark fur more than the colors of Mufasa or Simba.
Just like the bird (what's his name again?) said to Mufasa: "He would make a very handsome rug."
Though I wouldn't want to see him turned into a rug...

Lionesses came, seeked out the lions, and they all hung around the black maned one! HEadbutting him and stuff! The commentator went: Well, sorry Simba!
So it's a fact, black maned lions are more handsome than blondies
