Description

Journeying to the far reaches of the galaxy, the USS Enterprise  investigates a planet designated EXLO-IV, thought to be a lifeless world but the ship’s scanners are showing signs of a small number of humanoid lifeforms  on the surface. Lt. Cmmdr Gary Mitchell heads a team to investigate and observe and report back. But when the team do not respond to repeated attempts at communication from the starship, Capt. James Kirk and Science Officer Spock beam down to the planet, heading a search party,  to locate the missing crew members. But what they discover are  Krakkens, a once advanced race of humanoids who after years of war amongst themselves are now reduced to a mere handful of survivors- the last of their kind. But they had become an extremely proud race of warriors who religiously clung to the belief that each warrior must die in battle and that the highest honor is to  die  in glorious, spectacular combat. The Krakken leader, Gavagar, has Mitchell and his team hidden under the planet surface in caves caked in a strange mineral that prevents the Enterprise from beaming them up.  Gavagar makes a non-negotiable offer to Kirk- if he wants his men back, he has to fight for them- if they don’t they will kill Mitchell and the rest of his team!

Kirk faces a dilemma- he and his crew outnumber the Krakkens, have far superior weapons and fire power- a battle will only result in wiping the last of the Krakkens out completely and that is exactly what Gavagar wants- an epic battle and a last moment of glory! Kirk cannot leave his men to a certain death, but doing so means that he is the man who ends  the last of a dying race.

Turns out I just wanted to do a picture of Kirk and Spock in their ‘Where No Man Has Gone Before’ outfits.
