I've never taken a genuine shot at abstract-y backgrounds while still portraying a scene. It's hard as crap for me.
Anything symmetrical takes me down pretty fast--so I'm extremely proud of how this turned out!!!

They're the normal brushes SAI comes with but with added textures, adjusted shape, and a lot of the bg is done with the spread brush which is meant to smudge the colors around similarly to a paint brush.

SAI is one program you're best off playing with the settings yourself--
