The type of materials, size of the hat loop, and size of clothes, is important and also the individual bird, as not all birds will tolerate wearing something.
If you ever make clothes for your birds, be sure to take detailed measurements of the bird's body, which includes length, how far it is from the neck to the legs, the width of the legs, width of neck, etc to make sure your finished product will fit comfortably. Don't make the clothes snug, they should be a little loose, especially in the breast area so the bird can breathe uninhibited. They'll also be most comfortable in something that doesn't go up their neck or get in the way of their legs when walking, so keep that in mind. Also, holes for their wings to go through are very important to keep them comfortable. The wing holes need to be pretty big so you can easily slide their wings through them.
For hats, the most important thing is that the strap that goes on their head isn't tight. A soft hair tie works great, as long as it's the right size for the bird. As long as the hat itself isn't made of anything too heavy, it should be fine.
The most important thing is the bird itself: not all birds are comfortable wearing things. If they're calm while you're putting it on them, then they'll probably do fine as long the hat/clothing fits them appropriately. Also, hats are a bit of a trial and error process to find out what works best with the bird.
Hope that helps

Surprisingly, he didn't try to take it off! Most of my pigeons will scratch off hats or slip out of clothes, but Robin here and my other Indian Fantail pigeons are so cooperative.

Oh wow, very kool. I like pigeons. A lot of people hate them. they think their filthy rats with wings. But i think their cute and they all have such beautiful different colored feathers, each pigeon has a different pattern. ^_^

I've always liked all animals, but once I was introduced to pigeons they quickly became my favorite. People have given them a bad rep, but pigeons are such great birds! A lot of people aren't aware of all the different breeds, just the ferals, so they haven't seen just how beautiful and unusual they can be. I think the main problem is how many ferals there are, and also that some people think they have so many diseases that they give to humans, when they don't. Sure, they do have their own diseases, but a person is more likely to give the pigeon a disease than it is to give them a disease. They also don't get or carry the avian flu, so it makes them a safer choice for a pet than a lot of exotic birds out there.

There are over 300 breeds of pigeon around the world. Some features seen on fancy breeds are crests, feathers on the feet(sometimes super long, too), and fanned out tails. They come in different sizes, too, from rather small, like one of my favorites the Budapest Tumbler, to 3lbs or more, like the Giant Runts. Then there are ones for show or performance or utility. Racing Homers compete in races. Rollers(like my own Birmingham Rollers that I raise) will start rolling while they are flying in the air, and it's really amazing to watch. Tumblers, like my Komorner Tumblers, will fly high into the sky and then stop, spread out their wings, and spin straight down through the air til they get about treetop level and fly back up again and do it all over! High flyers will fly for hours at a time without landing. And pretty much all breeds(including banded ferals) can be shown. If you ever find a pigeon show in your area or where you can travel to, it's really something to enter a show hall and see so many different breeds of pigeon.

Wow! Thats incredible! O.O You really know a lot about Pigeons. You could be on one of those nature shows, like on Animal planet or Nat geo (national geographic) You could show off your different breeds of Pigeons and explain what each of them does and what their personalities are like, and also explain your knowledge of them. That would be so great! XD
