I wonder if the reverse lens method works for Nikon! Very nice shot by the way. I can even see the building behind you!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hiddenmemoryx In reply to aspenx [2008-07-24 13:13:45 +0000 UTC]

yep, it works for Nikon.
my friend owns one, and i encouraged her to try. after a few frustrating attempts of seeing nothing, she got it.

the key is to have A LOT of lighting and be VERY close to the object. i suggest first setting the lens to 55 mm so you can be little farther away from the subject.

oh, and be aware of your surroundings, if you don't have a sensor cleaning system built in, dust will most likely get on the sensor. like it has done on mine

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aspenx In reply to hiddenmemoryx [2008-07-24 15:05:16 +0000 UTC]

thanks for the information! i'll be sure to try it soon. really hope i won't get dust on my sensor though.

but i've heard that there are convertors for nikon lens to be put on reverse. that would mean i wouldn't have to hold on to the lens then?

anyways, thanks again for the tips and cautions!

hiddenmemoryx In reply to aspenx [2008-07-24 15:25:23 +0000 UTC]

you should

yeah, i think they're called reverse lens adapter rings, or something of the sort. they're not too expensive. but i don't trust the sites where i've found them. so i still hold it, or tape it. builds the hand muscles, lol.

no problem!

aspenx In reply to hiddenmemoryx [2008-07-24 15:45:09 +0000 UTC]

lol.

seriously? training your forearms with your camera huh. that's new. XD

kinda too risky for me so i think i'll pass.

btw, is that you in the webcam thinggy? cute! how did you get it there? i'm kinda new to dA and can't seem to figure out many things.

and oh. your gallery's terrific too!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hiddenmemoryx In reply to aspenx [2008-07-24 18:48:10 +0000 UTC]

lol yeah, i mean even the weight of the camera has become nothing. definitely gained some strength there

haha, actually.. no, that's not me on the webcam. that's Bill Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel. i am .. nowhere near being a guy. but Bill is very androgynous

the webcam is basically a URL you copy&aste "webcam url" in the userpage display under "settings"

thanks so much!

aspenx In reply to hiddenmemoryx [2008-07-25 01:35:44 +0000 UTC]

heh. the 350d and d40 weigh pretty much the same. so i guess we're on the same level in that aspect.

oops. my bad. i seriously thought it was a "she". i'm fine with androgyny though. ok. quite clear that he's still very much a guy after checking out a vid on youtube. lol.

oh right. one more question (oops, been quite alot it seems)? How did you get that "devious information" window thinggy to be fixed? i mean, that's an image you chose right?

i hope i'm not spamming here. but this will be the last one (for this photo)!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hiddenmemoryx In reply to aspenx [2008-07-25 01:40:46 +0000 UTC]

yeahhh

yeah, i don't mind the androgynous "look" either. it's okay. you are who you are. and yeah, he's.. a very feminine guy. haha, <3 him.

don't know what you're saying with it "being fixed." it's always been like that. i just make sure i get good measurements on the photo i choose. it's under userpage display still.

haha, i don't mind. comments are nice

Beautiful. I love the gentle blue/purple hues with the glittery highlights.

The falloff in depth of field is great, too. It looks like a Lensbabies shot (is it?)

Great capture

hiddenmemoryx In reply to nynfortoo [2008-07-12 18:43:24 +0000 UTC]

many thanksss!

i'm not exactly sure what a lensbabies shot is
so maybe, maybe not!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nynfortoo In reply to hiddenmemoryx [2008-07-12 18:46:05 +0000 UTC]

Ah, no then!

They're just a funny little type of lens, a bit like a shift lens, where you bend the body to establish focus, with a very strong drop-off into out-of-focus areas. Quite a unique look, and your depth of field reminded me of them!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hiddenmemoryx In reply to nynfortoo [2008-07-12 18:47:19 +0000 UTC]

oooh! no definitely not.
it's a standard 18-55mm lens, that's all.
nothing fancy. only thing money could buy at the time.

but thanks!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nynfortoo In reply to hiddenmemoryx [2008-07-12 18:53:35 +0000 UTC]

Ah, you did very well to get such a shallow depth of field then!

Great shot, anyway. I really love this one.

hiddenmemoryx In reply to nynfortoo [2008-07-12 19:26:34 +0000 UTC]

yeah, the reverse lens method is very shallow. sometimes annoying!
