I liked my otter chap so much, I thought I'd draw some more of him.this has been updated. As usual, I don't really know where I'm going with this. Just trying out new things! I'll probably go in with color pencil and watercolor and who knows what else!

I don't think I've seen much colour pencil in your gallery (or maybe I've just forgotten about it). If you haven't already started colouring it with something else I'd love to see some pencilwork from you!
Also, asuiuhdiugh otters!! Mustelids make me happy inside and you draw them too well. TOO WELL, I tell ya! XD The anatomy of them is reaaally god.

Most of what I do that's color pencil has some watercolor or acrylic ink thrown in there as well. I am mixed media mad! 8D

They do indeed! Mixed media is always good. I really like doing details with pencils over a watercolour wash, but ... that's because I'm kind of lazy and usually don't want to take the time to colour the whole dang thing with pencils. XD

Damn! How do you draw that? How can you draw ferrets/weasles/otters/anything in that family so well?? My fursona is a ferret, but I can't draw 'em for shit!!

I love the mustalids! I look at a lot of pictures and do as many practice drawings as I can.

You should take a few photographs and do some drawings directly from them. And you've got to really internalize while you do it. Examine the photo, and make comparisons in your mind the parts of the animal that doesn't look like a canine's, and how they differ. Even better, find a photo of a dog, too, and draw that. Committing visual data to memory is important to an artist, and is always easier after having drawn some pictures directly from a source.

That's a very cute picture. One thing that I mostly pay attention to are the eyes because I love how everyone does the details in it differently. Great work.

More otter chap! 83 *finally worked up the proverbial gall to comment* The tender expression is really wonderfully rendered on both of their faces, and even just the light indication of fur gives it a real sense of texture.
Those little webbed paw-hands make me smile. <3

I used a brown 005 micron for the outter lines, and a ballpoint for the little hairy grey lines.

I am really liking the mix. Because ballpoint alone tends not to have enough weight, and microns alone don't give enough variety. Unfortunately, ballpoint can be water soluble, so we'll just have to see how well it stands up to liquid.

It's fascinating, to watch a peice be drawn from beginning to end. I can never decide which lines to ink, and which ones to color darker; it's nice to be able to see the progress of someone's work as advanced as yours.
