Chinese medieval era? I can imagine entering a large hall full of shinning memorabilia and suddently listening a powerful voice speakinking in some ancient tongue.
I wouldn`t understand a thing but I`d be in awe like I am now.

I imagine a rustic kitchen from medieval times in the background. Out of focus if possible.

Uh, how big is the paper you normally draw on?
Because it looks like there's a lot of detail there, so either you use a really fine pencil for that, or the paper is larger than normal.
Which is it? or are you just talented beyond comprehension?

Oh look! He's coming out into the frame! That actually gives me an idea for one of my pieces that I've been struggling with! I owe you for that...
I think this is adorable! I love how fluffy he looks... I wish I could hug him. Ooh, and the steam of his drink looks great - for some reason pieces like this just make me happy. I have a thing for smoke or steam, no clue why.
This is the kind of art I would enjoy playing around with. I just like black and white/pencil works because they're just so clean and brilliant like this.
I personally think this looks absolutely wonderful as is. It's really beautiful, clean, and easy to look at. I think adding a background or color would take away from the charm of this piece. That's my opinion though, I know very little about actual art.
Thank you for posting this piece and I do hope you enjoy and love it regardless of whatever direction you decide to take it or how it comes out in the end. Have fun!

Having figures popping out of frames is a great way to make the work more fresh and lively. I use the technique often X3
I think what I'm going to do is just leave it how it is. I don't want to risk messing it up, and I've got so much to work on besides XD

Yeah... It really shows!
If I may ask, I had some questions about your style and character there.
I'll keep them short if you don't have much time right now.
I totally understand what that's like.
It's one of those things you really have to feel out.
I've killed some really nice pieces by trying to do too much with them...

I wanted to know:
What's his* name?
Is he* a dragon or a subspecies of creature?
How long did it take you to draw him*?
And finally... [I know artist's hate this question, although I personally don't care.]
What was your inspiration for this piece?
* - If it is in-fact a male beastie.
Thank you!
*sparkly smile*

I'd call him a dragon (I draw mostly 'him's, it seems... XD ). Name? None. Length of time? Errrr.... uh.... . maybe four or five hours? It's hard for me to keep track. @__@ And the inspiration XD I love dragons and I love tea. And I had to whip out as many pieces as I could for MFF, so I just drew whatever came to mind first.

He has no name... *blinks* That's tragic...
*puppy eyes* Can I call him Teallen? *likes making names when given the random chance*
Five hours? Wow! It really looks like you spent some solid hours on it. Wonderful!
I lose track of time also. It's easy to do when you actually can't tell time with a regular clock. *digital clocks are her best friend* I wouldn't know if my works take the 4 million hours it seems to feel like or something more reasonable... *laughs*
A lot of my drawings come from random musings too. I like those ones the best, they come out better for me at least. The ones I really plan tend to die on me. Like the one page comic I'm working on now... *cries over it* It's due this Wednesday! *fluster-flails and panic-tales*
Yeah...
MFF...? What's that mean, did I miss something? A person? An event?
*turns head sideways in wolfish confusion*

Looks awsome.

Gorgeous! It makes me think of a book I read when I was like... 10, by Bruce Coville. Something about dragons, don't remember the title. And the dragon bled into a cup for someone to drink it. EITHER WAY. Very awesome!

You could have the background as a local dragon pub, was just thinkin cos the goblet it's holding kinda reminded me of one of these old taverns. Just a suggestion, but still it's a great pic. Love his long wiskery tash, tis cool.
