Very cool What kind of Japanese monster is this?

Thanks I don't know exactly, I remember I saw it somewhere but I forgot where it was. Nevertheless I'm sure something like that was in one of mydreams and it reminds me of movies like The Ring.

wow must've been some nightmare :S To tell you the truth it reminds me of the Mare, a creature that visits you at night and sits on your chest and makes breathing hard and supposedly feeds off your vital energy. Some say your body starts tingling and you feel paralyzed. Now, i don't really believe in folklore, perhaps there is some scientific, medical explanation for these symptoms (sleep paralysis?) but i do remember my grandma talking about it and she would say this prayer or spell that supposedly made the mare go away.

Yes, it was quite horrifying.Hm, nice idea, I read some about this creature a while ago. Maybe it stuck in my head and appeared in the dream. I have never had sleep paralysis, but it must be scary. I read that people who suddenly wake up at night and can't move usually see something on their chest. In Slavic mythology it was also called Dusiołek, even a great Polish poet Leśmian wrote about it. All nationalities have the same dream monsters

It kind of makes you wonder if perhaps it's real :S
