I hear my Aunty Marie speaking it. She was one of Mom's sisters who remained in Canada after Mom/grandparents moved back to USA. Marie had such an adorable dialect, not of French Canadian, but of the UK side where gramps was born (England)... though her Canadian dialect sounded a bit Scottish to my ears. Specially in your oot and boannie. Grandpa lived with us when I was younger, and I picked up a lot of his dialect (whatever remained of his after living in USA for so long) and Mom's (what remained of hers after she left Canada), and I rather enjoyed having it. But for some reason the ex kept correcting me, wanted me (as he'd say) "Speak like an American"... and little by little I lost it all.

Though still don't know where the "r" came from in: warsh, wartch (etc.) Mom still says those. Ex corrected me out of it. Only more recently Mom stopped saying idear, though lapses back to Iowar. I no longer say those. Totally boring California-born and raised. Boohoo. I want some DIALECT! *pouts*
