Description This is something I did for my two DA pals, and to help with the fan-comic project that they have been working on, "A Sly Encounter."

A while ago, *gameboysage started a new comic project along with her friend, *Waimbert . It is called "A Sly Encounter," and it is about a crossover between the Sonic the Hedgehog and Sly Cooper series. They are still working on it, and so far have 5 of the pages finished. I wanted to help them out with this comic, and I was told that I could assist by designing Sally Acorn's new outfit for when she gets involved with the Sly Cooper thieves. I thought that I could do this and decided to help them out with it.

You can find the first page of the comic at this link: gameboysage.deviantart.com/art…
The links to the other comics are in the descriptions of each comic on their page.

Unfortunately, this was a lot harder than I thought. First of all, I had not ever heard of the Sly Cooper series until then. Fortunately, another friend of mine on DA, ~angelthewingedcat managed to help me out with that, and I got an idea on how their outfits were like and such. Then I had other stuff to do, stuff on my schedule that started to interfere, and more, not to mention me having some problems on making the outfits for Sally look right, and the fact that I found it rather difficult to draw in the style of the Sly Cooper series.

Despite all these problems I ran into and more, I still kept trying, for I am not the one who gives up that easily, and I didn't want to let *gameboysage and *Waimbert down. Now I've finally pulled through, and I have come up with two different new outfit designs for Sally to wear in "A Sly Encounter."

I came up with two different outfit designs that I liked in the end, and I decided to let *gameboysage and *Waimbert decide which they would think was better.

- The First outfit design I thought of as a sort of "beautiful robber" style look to Sally. In this one, Sally wears a mostly red and gray suit with a cute beret hat, a gray bandana hiding her mouth, long gloves, and cuffs on her legs that have pouches for her robbery gear attached to the sides. I thought this one might look good, but then again, it was a bit too recognizeable as Sally in ways, although I still do like it. I think it also looks kind of cutesy in ways, which I do enjoy. I also remembered to not include pants, like the other Sly Cooper characters have. This outfit was also inspired some by characters such as Laura Croft the Tomb Raider, Mami Tomoe in Maho Shoujo Madoka Magika, and Black Dahlia in Skullgirls.

- The Second outfit design I thought of when thinking of a more "stealthy infiltrator thief" look to Sally, but still looking fitting for Sally in ways. I know that the outfit looks a bit masculine on her, but that is the point behind it. It is supposed to hide Sally's identity more and make her look more like a boy to her enemies, so that they don't know it is her as easily. I thought maybe she'd have her hair tied up some in the back, but then again, maybe she'd have it all hidden in her hat, though I figured this hat would still have holes in the top for her ears. I also thought she'd wear a bandana around her mouth, but I didn't like how that looked and removed it. She also wears a pair of goggles with green lenses in this one, a black suit with a utility belt for holding all her thievery gear, dark-colored gloves, and boots. This outfit was also inspired by characters such as Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid, Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell, and "Leon The Cleaner."

So what do you think, *gameboysage and *Waimbert ? Do you think that you could use these outfits for Sally in "A Sly Encounter"? I'm sorry that it took me so long, but I hope that it was worth it.
I tried my best. I am very glad that I could assist you two with your awesome comic project, and I wish you best of luck with the rest of the comic too.

Oooh, I really like the idea of the black one actually, maybe with the leg pouches of the first one  and a more Sly Cooper looking hat XD  The green goggles in particular look awesome, though I'd probably put a black mask on her as well.

The first one looks cool too, but practicality wise I'd probably go wit h the black one.

Nice job on both of them

Well it's your choice, though I can imagine how that would look. And by the way, if you want to re-post this on your profile, like you've done with some other stuff I've seen drawn for you by other people, I give you full permission to do so. So go ahead and do that if you want GB, I don't mind.

I figured you'd like those leg pouches though, especially since they were inspired by Ms. Fortune's ones. And the whole idea I had behind the black one was to make her look more masculine so that the bad guys wouldn't know Sally is a girl, sort of like how Zam Wesell in Star Wars dressed masculine-like so that her identity wouldn't be seen as easily (I think you'd know that since I know you're a Star Wars fan). The shirt she's wearing there is also supposed to look baggy as you can see, so that her feminine body-shape isn't as easily seen.

I at first didn't like how she looked with that black hat and a bandana around her mouth, but perhaps with a different hat, the mouth bandana would look better like you said. I think I really outdid myself with the goggles too, as well as the hat and gloves of the first one. *Waimbert tells me he likes the first outfit better though, but I can see why you like the second one.

Well I'm glad that you like my contribution to "A Sly Encounter," and that my work was worthwhile. I can't wait to see the upcoming parts of the comic too. So far I think it has been going along quite well.

Wow, I absolutely love both of these outfit. You really out did your self in term of design and concept.  Especially the first outfit, it look so elegant and beautiful like a Victorian thief would where. Its elegance is only enhance wonderfully by the colorization between red, light, and gray. The the second outfit look really covert and stealthy, almost as if Sally just raid Sam Fisher wardrobe.LOL! The sneaky attire of this get up really look like it use for deep covert opp mission, and I simply love the goggle. Though, I have to wait and see what GB, thinks of these outfit, but they already look fantastic in my book. Well done! You really have a knack for creating such incredible outfits.XD

I think I like the black one more, with a few changes to it....screams less of being target practice for sneaking around then the first one XD

Probably with a Sly like mask behind the goggles, a more Sly Cooper looking hat, and shorter versions of the leg pouches from the first costume, like only wrap around above the knee instead of most of the leg.

Why thank you so much. I'm sorry that it took me so long, but hearing that I did such a good job from you makes me feel better about it, and good thing that I'm in time too. I made two different outfits because I couldn't decide between the two of them, and I thought that I'd let you and :devgameboysage decide which one you'd want to use for "A Sly Encounter." If you want to make some changes to them for the comic, feel free to do so, I don't mind.

I had such a hard time drawing in the style of Sly Cooper, but I think I pulled off in the end. I thought the belts were a nice touch, and I figured Sally would need one to hold her gear. Apparently though, I think that I pulled off in the end though. I didn't want Sally to look all herself, since most of the purpose of these outfits are to hide her identity when she goes with Sly and the others to steal back the Chaos Emerald, but still somewhat recognizable. And of course, I kept the Sly Cooper theme of no pants.

I didn't notice the Victorian look of the first one, but now that you mention it, I see it now. I was actually inspired more by Mami and Black Dahlia for that one. You might have seen the similarity to Mami in that one from the Cute Beret hat with the ribbons on top, the similar shoes and stuff, did you? I also thought Black Dahlia would be good to add in, since she has that stealthy badass look to her and such, not to mention that Black Dahlia was one of the characters I wanted to see in the next Skullgirls DLC, she's so awesome. Also those "cuffs" on her legs with the utility belts around them I was inspired by Ms. Fortune from, for you might have noticed that Ms. Fortune wears similar cuffs and a utility belt too. Though of course I didn't base them directly off them, but I used them for inspiration.

And yes, Sam Fisher was the inspiration for the second outfit, as well as Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid. I thought that outfit would also be good because it would make her look like a boy to the enemy, so they wouldn't notice that it's Sally as easily. Sort of like how in Star Was Episode 2 how the Spy, Zam Wesell, dressed in a very masculine looking outfit so that the others wouldn't know her identity as easily. The goggles I thought were a nice addition too, though they are supposed to be regular spy goggles and not Night-Vision Goggles. And I figured this would be good because stealing back a Chaos Emerald would certainly be a Deep Covert mission for Sly and Sally and the others, don't you agree? Yet to me, it still seems rather fitting for her in a way.

So which of the two do you like best? Which of these two do you think you and GB-Chan will be using in "A Sly Encounter"? Do you have one of the two in mind?

I like the first outfit the most since its the most unique attire out of the two, but I don't know which one GB will choose. If it was up to me I use both, since they are both well drawn.

Well I don't see how you could use both, but I can understand why you'd choose the first one. You and GB-Chan can make a few changes to the features if you want for your comic, I'm completely okay with that too.

I am very happy that I could help you and *gameboysage out, and that you appreciate my assistance. It was hard work drawing this one, but I feel very happy about how it turned out in the end.

Well, considering how I can't use both then the black one is the one most likely outfit for Sally to wear for the up coming mission, but  all in all I truely appreciate the dedication you put toward this artwork. I am glad that more people beside myself is helping make this comic special. So thank you very much!XD
