another one of those assignments with only one word to tell you what to draw (white/transparent) ENTIRELY too vague in my humble opinion… At least it’s over… /tragic sighBeing rebellious and trying to go against the actual meaning of the project in all its white-ness I wanted to try and push something that was completely the opposite and juxtapose the image, so I chose one very black symbol; the cat from Steinlen's Chat Noir poster. Seen here: [link] , of course, and represented as being "alive" in my piece (I tried.. not successfully, but I tried)
On a side note, in my original sketches she was eating and egg instead of holding a cat and my teacher thought it was too "playboy" so I wanted to sort of secretively keep that edge by adding "le chat noir" since it was a poster for a cabaret ;D

This work is my favourite, your style is absolutely breathtaking, especially in this piece. The colours, again, well chosen, and this mix between black, white and grey tonalities is just stupefacting in the way it looks

oh my gosh, wow, I was completely unaware that I did not say anything at all about Steinlen's poster. I remember talking about it directly in class and how I wanted a direct and obvious representation of something black, as well as the cabaret it represented (since the theme was "white") I guess I was so into it during the critique it completely slipped my mind when posting it. I honestly do no know how I forgot that, that is not like me. Thank you for bringing it back to my attention, I feel really bad now!
