It started in Amazing Spiderman # 796, the same issue that started the Red Goblin story line. I think Marvel finally realized all their readers were over reading "Renew Your Vows".

The whole "Brand New Day" story killed off my interest in following comics anymore.
First, even with JMS doing his best, the story didn't make any sense.
Second, I thought, well, if they're just going to violently retcon their characters on a whim, why the hell should I get emotionally invested in them? And I had been very invested in the Peter-MJ story. For years.

Me. too. That's why the only Spider-title I followed was "Renew Your Vows". I didn't even know they'd gotten back together until recently. I've been playing catch-up with the trades. I found out that when the story broke, issue 796 went through 3 printings- and you know how rare that is. Thing is, the trade that should have that issue- the title's "Worldwide"- picks up with the NEXT issue. If you don't have #796, you miss the kick-off for the entire story.
