Description
This is an illustration for Fantasy Flight Games collectible card game named Call of Cthulhu, which is based on the worlds of renowned horror master H.P. Lovecraft.
Illustrations for card games like this always have short deadlines, and are supposed to be viewed on a smaller scale than here.

Is this some perfect timing or what?! I just started re-reading At the Mountains of Madness literally two days ago, and last night I was wondering what an Elder Thing would actually look like (it was late, and Lovecraft's description of the bloody things was so detailed I ended up only remembering the 'star fish' and 'barrel-like' parts). Both that and this shoggoth look awesome - exactly as my fragmented imagination figured they would

Hehe, yeah, he had a tendency to get REALLY caught up in details, poor guy. It's a struggle to read his stories because of his complex method of writing, hehe.
I'll definitely be bringing the stories I haven't read of him to the beach this summer.

Although, I made this one over 1 year ago (takes long sometimes for products to actual release), so now I see lots of things I would have done different, and better if I would have done it now, hehe.

I love working on Cthulhu related things, love that setting. I've been reading the stories myself, but not all of them. Definitely reading material I'll bring to the beach this summer :-P

cant help but think how much it would suck to have that many arms and eyes... i mean imagine... all you'd have to do to defeat this guy is throw a bar of soap in the water and it would get all its eyes irritated...
