In Indonesian myth, Wewe Gombel is a monstrous apparition who often kidnaps little children. If a child goes missing, villagers would search in the woods, shouting the child's name and making some drum-like noise. Wewe gombel then would be intrigued by the sound and began to dance, losing her grip to the child, thus making the child visible again by the villagers
