Description Doomsday 's just a hearbeat away.

Since I've become an photo manipulator, or in fact since I've defined myself as being an artist, I've learned one thing very well, and that is to act when inspiration strikes. In my case, acting on inspiration means that I (literally) drop everything but the most important things and get to work.

Today, inspiration struck when I saw the cover of Dook 's most recent album, Archaic. Originally, "Doomsday"1 would be very, very similar to that cover, a 'skull moon' over a city.

But, as often happens with my work, it evolved. Ideas kept springing up, I saw more stock in my folder and in my other stock sources I could use, I saw interesting opportunities, etcetera, etcetera.

Finally, my canvas became what you're looking at now: Doomsday

Update, 9 january 2006:
-Reworked the border.
-Reworked the girl somewhat.
-Reworked the Grim Reaper somewhat.
-Added some fire to the horizon.
-Added a (very well) hidden Stalin quote

The girl with the guns in her crossed arms is cool. I like the fireball and the grim reaper. At first, I didn't see the reaper. I've never seen anyone have the reaper rise out of a fireball. That's excellent

By the way, in this photomanip of mine, I am seeing the reaper. Maybe take a look when you can.

Sweet image!

My only peeve is with that shadow behind her on the background, makes her look like she stands in front of a wall/Background, if that makes sense. And of course, if that was intentional I shut up now

Thanks

Well, the answer to that question, is yes and no. It's very hard to remove the shadow completely, e.g. from behind her hair, but since I like the effect, I didn't even bother to try

Nice one! I like the dark red and the black, and the explosion in the background is very cool. The Grim Reaper makes the title very fitting

Thanks for the comment 'Tis good that you like dark red and black; if you have a look at my gallery, you'll see it are my favorite colors...just as explosions; they're my favorite too Also, it's fun to note you think the Grim Reaper makes the title very fitting; I seldom embed a story in a piece of art on purpose, yet people pick up different things

I've noticed that

And yes, it's funny how much people can make out of things. Say that a musician writes a song. A person critiquing it can say that it's about this and that, but perhaps the musician didn't think of anything of the sort when he actually wrote it hehe

You've paid atention, then

IMHO, it's one of the best things of art The best comments I've had are from people thoroughly analuzing my works

Always try to act on inspiration. I once had a song stuck in my head, and all of a sudden, I was inspired to draw a picture using the song. Inspiration always works when it comes to art. Sometimes in writing, too.

Very excellent work. Keep it up!

Well, like I said, I do act on inspiration Nice anecdote about that song; a lot of my work is inspired or 'helped' by music

Anyways, thanks for the compliment, comment and dropping by

P.S.: I've updated the pic a bit since you've made this comment
