The kitties of Japan! Well, my three favorite. Marie from Aristocats is big, too, but she's American made. Hello Kitty also, but everyone knows about her.

Left to right-

Kutusitanyanko- Not really from a book or anime. "Kutusita" means "socks". The white parts of her paws are actually socks she wears, not fur. Mostly just a cat and her kitty friends that can be found on pretty much any kind of trinket or stationary supply. Created by SAN-X.

Chi- From the manga and anime 'Chi's Sweet Home' and second anime 'Chi's New Address'. Unbelievably cute story about a kitten that gets lost then found by a family with a young boy who becomes Chi's bestfriend. The manga will be coming out in America in English at the end of June.

Nyanpire- Started out as a doll found only in crane games, but now has three books and quite a bit of merchandise available from Animate in Japan. Short story is he was a sick kitten who was found by a vampire and turned into a vampire kitten -- hence 'Nyanpire'. His friends are Nyatenshi -- a cat angel that was thrown out of Heaven -- and Masamunya -- a cat samuri who has a crush on Nyanpire. It's cute, but not really meant for kids. I drew this on Christmas morning and just got it done tonight. I never did find a place with a scanner I could use in Japan, so that stopped me until mid January. The rest was just plain old-fashioned laziness.
