Description New edit: I think i should have kept a log on the dates of my edits. ok, I'll start now: today is May, 12 of 2008 and I feel the last editing was about a year ago.

Ok, now onto the real edit bit: I had a long way this photo I made about 4 years ago. As you will see when reading the other edits I started to love it, then almost hate it within the range of 3 years. This happened because I started to learn about photography and began to be very self-critic, especially regarding to image resolution (hence the hate).

Now I'm upon another level: I'm doing an etnography about deviantART and how the images of nature submited in here can shape our dialogues and serve as a medium of connection and so on.

So, after almost being forced to deal with this photo on a daily basis (analyzing comments, doing polls about it for statistical purposes, etc) I realized that I never deleted it because I kinda became attached to it and now I have earned respect for it - even tho I still keep my resolution critic!

P.S.: I'll still keep my Elizabeth Taylor or dA motto, tho!

----------------------------
1st edit: I almost hate this picture today. its quality is non-existent, I've resized it too many times without saving the original file and in a very lousy editor program plus, it was taken with a low-res camera. what can I say? I only keep this in the gallery for respect of people's comments and favs. I think that if so many people really liked it then they have the right to see it again when they want. but I just wanted you to know that I feel like Elizabeth Taylor on this one, like when she won the Oscar with that lousy film she hated!

I'm now pronouncing myself dA's Elizabeth Taylor!

-ditto!

ancient description:

[About the photo]

- This was my favourite path of all from the series that I once posted, but now deleted!
And I want to thank my son in law here at DA, 'cause this alteration wouldn't been possible without him... Tks for showing me the wonderfull world of sepia, jbrosque this one is for you!

- taken: in Portugal, at Parque de La-Sallette, in Oliveira de AzemΓ©is.

- concept: My dark path allows me to travel inside and outside life's essence! You can find a path in your life or you can make your own. Either way, they both can be turned dark, tho they finish in the same place: YOU!

The position of trees is amazing, as if they wanted to bend over whomever passes by to make sure he understands he's being watched... You've got a beautiful and amazing place pictured here.

The composition is great, unfortunate that the quality is odd. But good picture either way definatly with a lot of history!

If however you do not like this piece, I suggest you trust your instincts, and just take it down

well, basically I just don't like it due to the resolution, the camera I used and what I did in PS with constant resizing, having lost the original in the way... if I get the chance I'll redo it!

Fabulous. Really has a unique quality about it, a certain "je ne sais quoi".The darkness of the forest invading the path, Nature reclaiming what man has made his own, a little mystery, I don't know what it is - but it sends a shiver down my spine.

Why on earth do you hate a picture just because it's not sharp? If the only thing a picture has to commend itself is its sharpness, it means it's terrible. Photography is about composition and capturing moments, and some of the best photos in the world are blurred or low-quality. What we're looking at here is the image as a whole, and not how pretty the tree is! Infact if it was too sharp and high-quality, it would possibly distract the viewer from the rest of the photo.

I can totally understand your reasons.

How ever the picture doesn't speak to me because of its quality, fancy camera it was taken with or the amount of pixels it has. Simply its composition makes it jump out in my eyes.

was looking what I would unscrap. This was my first choice but respectfully not selected.

I'm here because of =Brvno s watchers featuring watchers.

It wasn't easy to choose one of your pictures, in the end I had it narrowed down to three ([link] , [link] and [link] )

I've finally chosen [link] because it appeals to me on so many levels.

First its just a superb picture. I love the composition and the sepia colour. And that black border adds a lot to this picture.

Then there's the content: Those trees almost blocking the path. That's just great. Depending on my mood I can see this as an obstacle in my future (those trees are really falling down and blocking my path), or I can see it as something that only seems like an obstacle, but really isn't.

And then there's the abstract side to it. I love those shapes and lines, that are made by those branches and leaves. I can see so many things in there (just like in clouds). I think this is an aspect of the picture that only works well in b/w. (I've just discovered a delightfully cute elephant )

Hmm, I could have said all of the above much simpler...

I like it. A lot.

Hi, I'm here because of =Brvno s watchers featuring watchers

It wasn't really easy to choose one of your pictures, in the end I was torn between 3 pictures ([link] [link] and this one)

I've chosen this one at last, because it appeals to me on so many levels.

First there's the graphical impression. Superb composition and I love that sepia tone. That black frame adds a lot to this picture.

Then there's the content of the picture. Those trees that are almost blocking the path. Just great. Depending on my mood, I can see this as obstacles in my future, that are about to happen (Trees are falling down), or I can see this as a path that just *seems* blocked, but really isn't (No obstacle is as big as it seems at first).

And then there's an almost abstract part to that picture in those shapes and lines of those trees. I can see lots of things in there, just like in clouds (I just discovered a delightfully cute elephant shape^^)

Hm, I could have said all of the above much simpler...

I like it. A lot.

I already saw your photo account, I noticed the kinda photojournalistic photos you've got. You travel a lot, you're lucky! I'm an anthropologist to be, so I loved the ones with Tarsius, the skull and, of course, all those who featured people's costumes and different cultures!
