I like this irisses but you're right - they tend to produce leaves only. They need a well drained soil, and a good fertilizer without too much nitrogene.
The bulbs of the yellow one (Iris danfordiae) fall apart into several very small bulbs after flowering, so it will take a couple of years for them to bloom again.

They're planted in a large round shallow pot along with my Auricuals (sp). I only spotted them as i was moving it out of the Squirrels way. They were trampling them, can't have that
