This image has been submitted to EliteArtists Autumn contest. My painting is about the wonder and magic of the transformation that the season brings and inspires.Updated October 18, 2012 to try and incorporate some of the wonderful suggestions from Celairen , but I may still need to work on it...

And I have a guilty confession: I traced the outline of some of the features (one eye, part of the lips and a nostril) and the outline of the hand. I know it's taboo, but in my defence, I'm 1) at least being honest about it here and giving credit to the original photographer; and 2) I only traced part of the features because in the original photo, the hand is actually covering half her face so I still had to recreate the other half entirely on my own (at least that's something, right?). But everything else was drawn and painted by me. So, there you have it. That's my mea culpa. Judge me harshly if you will... I deserve it.

It's a wonderful work, dear! I like the realism here so much! Mainly her hair and the eye and her hand. I think, you did a very good job at recreating the other side!
There are a few things: Her nose..the perspective is so cruel on the photo. I never could do it! So you did an amazing job here, it's only that I think, when you make her alars a bit thicker and softer like it's on the foto and make her tip of the nose a bit rounder (perhaps just use the smudge tool and melt the light part a bit more with the darken) and give the right part of the nose bit more shadow ( I know on the foto it looks like the very light part goes straight to a dark part, but when you paint it, it's mostly that you have done a soft gradient and than working the shadows a bit more. I made this experience often and it's very frustrating to make the same mistake again and again) it would be very very realistic. But her eyes are so plastical and greatly worked out with lights and shadows and her cheeks and forehead looks very natural. And I also like the way you give her a green contrast with this beautiful leaves. She looks a bit like she would like to catch them.
