Shoka La Kipito worn by Prince Menelik ...I finally found a use for that skyrim character I made, and yes I haven't played skyrim yet and I haven't played final fantasy in years haha

I realized something important. While I made my technical drawing of a fantasy sword I imagined absent any influence. I realized something that bothered me for days. The weapon I designed isn't final fantasy.
I tried to wing it and I realized it simply wasn't. It fit my fantasy but not final fantasy. Now luckily for me, I sketched several different weapon designs from my imagination before I looked at the video from Stumpyfongo < www.twitch.tv/videos/120354498… > . But I am very happy I looked at the video from Stumpyfongo. A number of people offline see my sketches and they all liked the design you see as my entry. Which, was not the design I liked the most.
Thus, I realized, the design above was the most fun. And, after looking at the video from Stumpyfongo, I realized the better for the idea of this invitational.
I am used to various restrictions with invitationals. But, usually, the fantasy is mine. This year with the Milestone Invitational in writing and some of the invitationals in Deviantart, like this one, I am learning how comfortable I am with making art that truly fits another imagination. I am not there I am not far away but I am not there yet. My biggest issue is it takes me longer than it needs to be to get out of my own imagination. While normally that is good, when you do work for others, in their constraint, with their time desires, you need a greater speed to imagine in their fantasy.
Great invitational this one, had a lot of fun.
To this creation I considered what Stumpyfongo did and I timed myself. I did start a little later than I wanted but starting at 6:57 with only two sketches of the design above originally. I created the following.
I ended at...12:18 am the next day I didn't mention the time to scan, and to use textures, which took hours in the end
