This makes me think of District 9. PRAWNS

Part of the hand between shoulder and elbow doesn't seam as durable as you described it. His generally looks quite agile, on the contrary to the text. As for the artwork itself, no complainants.

yeah, I know, I partly blame my style for that, but I can explain it: the original muscle mass around the arms and the legs(or the whole body for that matter) is lost during the refinement, leaving only the raw bone to be fused and compressed with the rock it was encased in. This strengthens the bones to a near indestructible state. This allows it to support its own weight with minimal body mass.
tl;dr
The legs and arms are just super-re-enforced bones, allowing it to support its already heavy body. (instead of having a super bulky exterior, it has a small re-enforced body)

Yes, but you sacrificed the viewing psychology. There are no common animals (for example) that are trim and skinny, but extremely durable. Size compensates speed but gains more muscle/fat that is sort of a natural armor. Of course the artist is always free to do as he pleases, but it would be more plausible for the audience to see something they can make a reference to real world. Or so I think

That sword looks familiar from somewhere... Where could've I seen it before?
