Note for the blind who don't read artists comments: This is NOT my lineart. I only colored it in!-----
My half of a collaboration between =DarkAngel613613 and I.
We each drew linearts of one of our HARPG characters (I drew the lines for DD Emmeline , she drew the lines for Sainfoin ), and the other person colored the lineart (so, I colored Sainfoin, she colored Emy ).About the piece... WELL. That was new. To say the least.
x.x I've rarely, if ever, worked so hard and long on a single piece (excluding "The Black Pearl of Minorca ", perhaps, lol.)
The lineart for this that DarkAngel sent me was GINOR-freaking-MOUS.
I've never worked in that size before, but, thinking this would be the best opportunity to try out a new technique/method, I went for it and tried working in high res/big file. Man. Never doing that again. 
Way too needlessly long and laggy. It took me a good week to get this piece done, and to give you a little idea, this image is roughly a quarter of the original's size. I never work that big, so it was a shocker, lol.Anyway, I know her coloring job's way better, but I tried.
And it was fun.

This is amazing! Your coloring style is so beautiful and unique! The way that you shade is really smooth and realistic. You have a very impressive knowledge of equine anatomy and musculature. The color palette that you chose is just stunning, I really like how you included the warmer tones around his muzle, chest and flanks (it is a really nice touch).
I especially love the way that you paint horse's faces. They always have so much personality and you include every small detail of the equine facial structure. His eyes are just great, they look very lifelike.
I had to laugh when I read in the artist's comments you thought my lineart was ginormous. I had a similar reaction when you sent me your lineart. I was like, 'wow, this is small!'. Haha. I never really thought the scale I worked on might just be unusually large. But, I guess it kind of is.
Omg, don't kid yourself. Your coloring is a million times better than mine! I hope someday I can color as well as you do! Your artwork is just wonderful, it's in a league of it's own!

Lulz, no, not really lol. I just use lots of good refs, you see.
And, yeah, I had a lot of fun with the face/head. That was my favorite part to shade. I think that's the one part that I saw the advantage of, in using larger files to color. I could add more details and such. But, it's hard to add a lot of details to big groups of muscles, such as the back or hinquarters, in a huge file, IMO.
Heehee, and to give you an idea, that file I sent you for Emy's lineart is actually big, to my standards!

D:< I want your coloring style. It's so not funny. I do take your style quite beautifully, and I adore it with a heated passion, as it does help me understand a few things that I've never taken into consideration - namely studying equine musculature. I've studied anatomy and genetics but never musculature, and to be honest, you make me want to learn equine musculature. C:< Thank you for being a huge inspiration, Hazel.
