Huge Crisis Zone - Vs. the Egg Hammer Fortress

Tracking the elusive Dr. Eggman to this GUN occupied territory, Blaze prepares to reclaim the sixth Sol Emerald. A familiar machine returns, but will its modifications prove destructive enough to eliminate this meddling feline once and for all...?

Production Notes:
- I knew I had to stop avoiding this type of pose - it's one I've always wanted to get right - so Blaze here served as the guinea pig.
- I tried to pay attention to how the light and atmosphere might affect the visible objects, but I have no idea as to whether or not I got anything right.
- The boss's name comes from the Japanese strategy guide.

I'll see how it fares with you guys before I ramble too much more about it.

One of my favorite Sonic Rush Bosses. Two thumbs up for making it look so good. The Shading is also great with the setting sun in the background, so realistic there!

This boss took me by surprise when I fought it. Since the stage was entirely a G.U.N. base, I originally thought it was going to be against a G.U.N. Mech or one of their seargents or something. I really didn't expect it to be Eggman in an improved version of the Leaf Storm boss (since there were no Eggman robots in the stage earlier).

Nice job on the recreation on that scene too.

Glad you like the accuracy of the work.
As far as Mad Gear goes, there are really only a couple of tricky spots in each act to worry about. I would advise watching some YouTube videos if you need to see how the stages are successfully completed. It'd be difficult for me to type a walkthrough here.

Wow, that's really cool - it looks like a more CGI version of the still frames they used for Sonic Rush. I think you did pretty well with her pose, as well as the setting. Great work. ^_^

It's amazing how you can translate boss fights from these strictly 2D (or 2.5D) style games, and make them look fully 3D. It adds a whole new layer to the scenes, it's fantastic. Great job!

Glad to hear that you think the characters are looking better. Something tells me it has been too long since I last made a fool of myself in that regard, and I think that's going to catch up with me.

At least this time Eggman was smart enough to borrow someone else's ship and wreck that instead of another poor Egg Carrier.

I guess he thought he'd cause destruction even if he lost.

I still haven't figured out how the eggcarrier in sonic 06 crashed. It just suddenly had malfunctions or something.

As far as that poor '06 Egg Carrier - must've been something insignificant but unavoidable like moisture in the control panel sending a crippling surge of power to the engines. Oy, what a stupid way to lose such a grand battleship. Then again, that happens in real life quite a bit.

Glad you noticed that. I had originally drawn her cuffs in the artwork's style, (i.e. plain) but then thought, "well let's see - just what can I do with the smudge tool here?..."

Another awesomely detailed piece ^_^ Personally I always thought of that boss as like an 'Egg Viper 2' (2.5, since this was it's second usage)

If I had anything to say about the light and atmosphere (critic POV), I'd say since the sun is setting behind, the part of the ship facing us in the back could be just ever so slightly darker. But overall great as usual!

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't considered this an Egg Viper ver. 2 of sorts. Yep.

I share your same views about how the sun should do more to the ship, but alas, I had to follow what the game had set in terms of shading. Also, at the very end I added a large glow emanating from the sun, trying to make it appear as though the sun's light was flowing over the objects, and that may attribute to the brightness issue.
