Description Type: Revived Dinosaur.

Diet: Herbivore.

From: Las Cinco Muertas.

Population: Few hundred.

Another one of Ingen's revived species, the corythosaurus is a crested hadrosaur from the late Cretaceous period. Like Parasaurolophus, it was a large herbivore with an elaborate crest on it's head with a similar in shape to a corinthian helmet thus giving it it's name. The crest was hollow and connected to the nasal cavity, thus the creature is able to produce a wide range of sounds. Though not as famous as the parasaurs, the corythosaurus still managed to become a familiar dinosaur to normal people which made it the perfect species for Jurassic Park. If only that were how things have went.

These animals were cloned in secret due to the San Diego Incident led to the outlawing of reviving and exploitation of extinct creatures. Apparently dozens of them were created and experimented on before they were released into the wild. The sudden introduction of these creatures and other dinosaurs seriously disrupted the Island's ecosystem. As the years went and Jurassic World was opened to the public, the Mastani Corp decided to introduce the corythosaurus to the park. Capture teams were sent to Sorna to acquire what remains of the corythosaurus whose population shrank to under a dozen adults. These individuals were later used to breed a new generation for the park. These animals lived in the Gallimimus Valley along other lesser known dinosaurs. Things were going fine until the Indomidus' rampage which resulted in the animals escaping containment and became wild. The corythosaurus survived on the island for years in relatively large numbers but unexpected geological forces were causing the resident volcano to awaken once more which threatened all the dinosaurs on the island. At last the M.I.P stepped to deal with the situation to rescue the remaining dinosaurs on Isla Nublar and relocate them to Monster Island.

When the dinosaurs arrived they went through a extensive rehabilitation period to prepare them for life in the wild. The corythosaurus were released into the southern regions of Monster Island, here they feed on the diverse variety of fruits and trees that other large herbivores tend to ignore thus avoiding competition. They live in large herds and have taken to herd with the Skull Island ceratopsian Ferrucutus for protection. Despite this protection they are regular targets by predators particularly the Venatosaurus. When being attacked the corythosaurus have been observed to produce a high pitch cry that's painful to a attackers ears, and when that fails they are surprisingly ferocious when defending themselves with body slams, tail hits and nasty kicks.
