Description It still seems bleak and slow on my pictures lately. I had a small handful of incomplete comics, due to this mental and creative drought as well as my apathy and lack of physical motivation on drawing. But then, I was looking back in my old picture I did back on February with that kappa. That is, if you remember ISAO & BABURU [3-2-2019] [Image: fav.me/dd174kg]

To my surprise, I felt my body and mind finally getting into drawing something. I had some more that I ought to do more of that farmer boy and that reformed and cute kappa. That is, if I keep up with this inspiration from KITARO OF THE GRAVEYARD {GeGeGe no Kitarō} (ゲゲゲの鬼太郎), by Shigeru Mizuki [1922 - 2015] and a little from YOKAI WATCH.

While I was drawing the pond part, I haven't formulated the entire single page comic yet. However, some time this morning, I thought of THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE from Aesop's Fables. That was random, I know; but when that came to me, I thought up a better idea for a gag.

And I think this would suit well for Babaru, too. Don't you think kappas would be into dark humor?

Note 1: That thing with that laugh Baburu made? How that went "Bebobobo..." [ベボボボ...]? I blame Eiichiro Oda, creator of One Piece, for this. But yet again, it fits well with someone who goes underwater like this kappa here. I guess you could say that I was inspired or tempted.

More like a sick sense of humor if you ask me. Nothing funny about the act of murder.

Unless if the tortoise happens to be a yokai. XD

I can totally see a kappa having a mindset like that!

"And so, the tortoise won the race, but everyone starts to question of the whereabouts of the hare. It wasn't until 10 days later, a water rat found a drowned corpse....'

XD

Glad you enjoyed this take!

Kappa can be crass and violent, but they are also highly knowledgeable about medicine and the art of Japanese bone-setting, or sekkotsu: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sekkotsu

Fun fact: Humans gave the Kappas cucumbers so they wouldn't eat the soul gems they'd rip out of the human's butts

I agree with him that she has an "unusual " take of humor.

After all, kappas are known to drown people.

No, because they can sometimes crave for meat or much worse.

But again, they do have weaknesses. In fact, according to the legend, if you bow to them, they'd bow back, resulting their bowls on their heads to slip out. Because they have cavities in their heads [which holds water to keep them moist], they become vulnerable and overtime, they'll dry up and die. You can either ditch them or place the lid back on and it will be your willing servant.
