This is a REALLY cool design! So many people go with corvids when they do plague masks, it's refreshing to see other species represented.
I'd love to see a really creepy owl mask, but the beak is too small to really stuff them anti-miasma bits into.

Thank you, and I agree! There are so many pretty bird species that offer a new ideas for the design of plague masks. Why we chose cuckoo for Pinnok is because the bird's trickster ways really fit with his attitude and story haha
An owl mask would be really interesting. Indeed it may not be as good for the field work and avoiding the tainted air. But I guess it could be more of a status symbol. Maybe what a retired plague doctor wears, who instead concentrating on research and such? The smaller beak would be less in the way when closely examining books and bacteria etc : D

aaaaaa! This is just precious! I absolutely love the design of the hood, how it just perfectly encases around his head and fits well with the mask!

He's a jerk, but also very precious haha. The design of the hood and the character, except for the mask is really the work of my friend Cathaycay. Here's a link where you can see the rest of the boy's design c: cathaycay.tumblr.com/post/1353…
Thank you for always commenting Baluv. It means a lot /HUGS
