Description Poster art for the Roy Ward Baker film of Nigel Kneale's 'Quatermass and the Pit' made by Hammer studios.

I like the white space in a lot of 1960's film posters, so that's the look I was going for. Painted in gouache.

One of Hammer's best and a great Science Fiction film in its own right. This is a very fine tribute to the movie.

Nice work, love the colours. I'm only just getting into Hammer and saw this for the first time quite recently. A surprise just how many plot similarities it shares with 'Prometheus' !

Yes, I listened to Ridley's Prometheus commentary recently and whilst a lot of detractors got heated under the collar by the Von Danniken ancient astronaut stuff, it's clear from what he says that Nigel Kneale's teleplay was a very big influence as he spontaneously gives an accurate and detailed description of the Quatermass & the Pit plot. Very pleasing to hear actually.

Looks great! Like how ya included the fateful crane in the back there.

And yeah, nothing recaptures a 60s poster feel like use of white space. I have a pic "in the vault" that I can't show right now which uses the same move to look "authentically" 60s. I'm pretty sure I got the idea from your "Dr. Who and the Daemons" poster.
