It's Arkaeus, the mountain elf turned vampire! OuO So I've been wanting to draw him again for a long while, and I feel like I never did any major drawings with him in it. Erg. I said I wanted to actually draw him bearing his fangs, because otherwise, you wouldn't be able to tell he was a vampire, but that didn't happen. xD Instead, I got this, stoic-looking Arkaeus which is totally not Arkaeus when he's around Foren and Arioch. Basically this captures him at a really rare somber moment since he's almost always in the company of those two. lol. Maybe he is thinking about how he could get Foren and Ari to a permanently safe place to stay. Or more likely he is thinking about the day that everything changed for him and how if he had been more prepared, he might have been able to avert the whole incident and he and his friends would still be living peacefully in the village instead of on the run in the forest. Yes, likely that.I thought about drawing him grinning or smirking like he would usually be doing, but I still need a lot of practice drawing people smiling in this style without looking super creepy haha. Maybe I will use Peridot to practice, since he looks creepy when he smiles anyway.

if you draw him bearing fangs or just grinning with this teeth showing I want to see it [fangs and smiles are hard for me to draw too so I like to see how others do it] seriously, let me know. I'd like to see it.

Wow, I love the style used. This is a beautiful piece of work. It caught my eye the moment I saw the thumbnail. Everything about it I find just so stunning. Maybe it's the look he has.

LOL Poor Peridot, being used for practice because he's creepy. XD
But Arkaeus, Ari actually really likes being outside running around. He prefers it more than being cooped up in a village. And even though Foren would hate to admit it, Foren also likes to be running around in the forest. He's probably been able to hone more skills that way, because it's like real-life experience.
Anyway, on to the actual drawing itself--this looks amazing! I love the textures from the paint strokes, and I especially like how you painted the area around his eyes/eyebrows. Whoaaa. You are getting sooo good. You have to admit that you've improved by so much since say, last year or something. Your painterly style is really looking super super nice. I can imagine this on the front of a magazine or something. The circle around his head and the texture in the background are so perfect too, it gives it a nice studio artsy feel, and it reminds me of Alanica's stuff.
I LOVE IT I don't even know how to describe how beautiful I think it is!

Awww. Okay then. I don't think Arkaeus will ever be able to get over how different things could be, but knowing that about Foren and Ari would help him cope a lot. Arkaeus is actually probably the most sheltered/ outside world-inept one out of all of them, since Foren read a lot about the outside world and he has good combat and hunting skills. And Ari is kind of naive, but very adaptive and physically strong. But Arkaeus only read and trained minimally and was lazy, even though his mentor had faith in his potential intelligence lolol

You like the paint strokes? ouo I actually didn't really like it that much, but it's hard to get smoother strokes on the Surface. xDD But if you like it, then maybe that's a good thing. ;u;
Ahaa there was a point that I had extended the canvas and took off the border so you could see the background texture ended short on some of the sides, and you could see where the painting below his shoulders tapered. It looked so studio collage-like. I kind of liked it. But I didn't know if it was the sort of thing that we like but then real graphic designers would be like, That's disgusting. lolol That seemed to be the case with a lot of my stuff in typography.

Poor Arkaeus. What you said about him probably being the most indoor person is probably true. Even though Foren is a bookworm, he wasn't able to spend all of his time in the library, since he was needed in training or other duties. But I think being in the woods on the run has made Arkaeus develop more as a person. : > Now he definitely isn't as sheltered.
But you're also good at lighting, and being able to use references correctly is also a talent.

Yeah, I hate when I think something looks okay but then real graphic designers don't like it. .w. Then I feel bad. But I really do like what you did for your assignments in Typography. But that might mean that it's really bad in graphic designer terms. But I really like them. I'm sure they are really good . : |
