Description I'm doing individual character pages for the Composers. Here's Johannes "Joe" Brahms, the first in the series. I am having intarnetz issues, so I'll post the rest later.

I'm basically doing a full-body drawing of each of the guys, and some different facial expression studies. I can tellya that a guy whose face is mostly covered in hair is not easy to emote...

More to come!

Good touch--remembering that Brahms liked to give candy to children, something that nowadays would unfortunately inspire suspicion in parents and the police.

True! Kinda sad huh? He also played with/collected toy soldiers up into his 30s. Whatta crazy dude!

Haha--funny how much classical music ends up in popular culture--like cartoons.

Indeed.
And Brahms' Hungarian Dances was a favourite for these old cartoons soundtracks. I saw many Disney and Woody's cartoons with it.

I dunno his eyes make him pretty expressive (especially in the third headshot)

Your drawing was excellent, as usual, but I thought to my untrained eye that he looks like Karl Marx. They are from the same time, right? Or wrong?

I *think* so...I'd have to check. Funny, I was thinking John Brown. Hehe

*lol* Ahhh, that's great! I think you did a very admirable job with those expressions! They really DO convey emotions...I can't WAIT to see the others. (this is gonna be so awesome.)

I like this. I could see what you mean by being hard to emote, but you did a good job; the trick is getting the reader to focus on more than just his ginormous beard.

Also, I like the little touches here, like the patch on his sleeve and the pocket full of sweets.

I can't wait to see the others!

Whiskers could actually help him emote. They could get jagged when he's angry, droop when he's sad, look lively when he's happy...
