I enjoy both 4E and Pathfinder a great deal and have two different sets of friends that plays each exclusively. That said, I live closer to my PF friends, so I am playing much more PF than 4E at the moment.

I was in an all Aasimar/Tiefling party in a Pathfinder Society game, the monsters cast a darkness spell and entire table stared at the DM and laughed.

I have yet to play Pathfinder. But with DnD next looking like it does I'll probably try it out way before I do the Next thing.

To me, Next looks like a hybrid of 2nd and 3rd with elements of 4th. They wanted to make an edition of D&D that everybody would be happy with (which is probably impossible). I'm personally waiting till I see some of the additional material they release rather than judging it based on the playtest material. Hell, 4th looked bad based on just reading the PBH1 and it turned out to be much better than it looked.
