I am currently taking part in my very first RPG campaign, using DnD 4e. The GM believes that rules should be learnt as we play, so he put a bunch of books in front of me and said I should take whatever looked good. I didn't even know those belonged to different settings.
So I play a warforged swordmage. And yes, it is basically a jedi droΓ―d.

Lol, gotta love cheddar knights.
For those who don't know what a cheddar knight is and loves star wars and DnD: check out Darths and Droids.
But anyway, this is awesome!

Any coincidences on the part of WotC are likely...coincidental...as well. Nice pun, by the way.

Hasn't everyone tried to homebrew a jedi character for dungeons and dragons though? I guess it was only a matter of time until Wizard finally did one.

You know what's really funny? My friend, Ben, and I played a boy/girl twin set of swordmages...and I never even thought of this parallel.
Too much, HH13!
XD

Swordmages are awesome. I've yet to play one, because my Forgotten Realms Player Handbook is still in the mail.

I haven't ordered books. I got three from a bookstore, but they weren't what I needed.

Nice. I did Obi Wan as a Paladin a while back (and, yes, I had the mini of him with clone trooper armor). I don't know why I didn't think of Swordmage, though.

Until I started really reading into the class it hadn't occurred to me either but it all fits rather nicely. Just for kicks I statted up a Tiefling Swordmage with a Force +2 double sword and Barbarian multiclass (for the Great Cleave and a tad extra damage). I think he would make an excellent villain. Or a black warfoged with a flowing cape, Dread helm, breath impediment (since he is still half-human) and a recharge-able Unseen Gauntlet which works less like the original spell and more like the Wizard Sleep spell. The options are more and the nerd inside me giggles like a little girl, while I'm trying to reason the inclusion of those characters in a running DnD game.

I know. When I read the power descriptions I giggled like a little girl. The best thing I read about the Swordmage was on a forum - "Need . . . goblin . . . swordmage". I laughed my ass off.
