I love this. We shot it a fair while back and I never got around to posting. I enjoyed this pose.

A quick update:

Things aren't getting much easier right now. I've had to take some time off of school and am in immense amounts of pain. I've been getting a lot of acupuncture and am being poked a lot by doctors and physios. You see, I have a body which really tells me when I am too stressed. I was sitting in class on Monday, trying to ignore the pain and not to hyperventilate when I looked down and realised that my bad arm had changed colour. It was now blue gray, cold and basically looked like it was about to drop off. My circulations was barely making it to my finger tips.

That's about all I can say for the moment. But I'm sorry that I'm not answering people's notes or comments much lately. I'm pretty useless of late. Give it a bit of time. My parents are back in the country and while they are still 900 kms away, its been really helping being able to talk to them and get some family love over the phone.

That's all I can type now.

Thank you! I was recovering from a very long-term arm injury at the time and was very, very excited to have use of that arm again.

I like how you always surprise me with the poses you do and the things you wear. You seem so much more... dark I suppose. Put together? And the pose is lovely and strange.

Thank you! I usually try to avoid doing my own styling because I own so little but this combination did come out well.

Thank you! I think this pose mostly came out of 'hey! Look! My arm is almost like a normal person's arm and can actually hold some weight! I'm so cool right now!' You get ridiculously excited about these little things when you've had long term injuries.

Thanks Miss. I talk a lot about using architecture when I am training models. I don't see the point to posing in front of a location. It makes things 3D if you actually engage with it. I love the idea of making a shot which could never have been made in a different place or if one of the people involved had been different.

You should come along to some of the workshops I do. Even if you can only sit there with your crutches, it is still a lot of fun.

Thankyou! I enjoyed this pose far too much. I do similar things on the stairs in the studios I study in. It keeps me happy.

CurseUDifferentOnes In reply to Halohid [2009-05-21 16:28:36 +0000 UTC]

Those are my favorite kinds of poses, because they are interesting, angular, structural, intense, and energetic. It captivates the audience and forces their eyes to dance across the graphic image in wonder. I've always enjoyed more editorial pictures with strange creative than any other. Kudos on this beutiful picture and get well soon!

Halohid In reply to CurseUDifferentOnes [2009-05-30 02:18:52 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I love exposure ways to use the architecture of a space in posing. Its something I talk about a fair bit when I teach modeling also.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CurseUDifferentOnes In reply to Halohid [2009-05-30 04:23:02 +0000 UTC]

Then your models must be very well taught. Architecture can inspire some of the most graphic, yet stunning poses ever. In just this picture alone, I see immense talent and promise. If only I could shoot someone like you. I have to rely on asking my friends, most of whom are camera-shy, or trying to shoot myself, which doesn't work all the time. *sigh*

Halohid In reply to CurseUDifferentOnes [2009-05-30 07:22:20 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh, yes. I am familiar with that kind of model also. Everyone starts with them. My best advice is to find actors. I see from your journal that you do some theatre at school so try and rope some drama people in to it. Actors make for amazing models. They are all I use these days. They can tell stories with their bodies and faces and think the whole time, which I love.
